When I'm on Corral and there is people with Gt40 set ups that are saying they are making 300 + rwhp

But the Trickflow Top End kit only makes 290-300 wrhp
u

whats up with that???

also is it true that you don't want to port Trickflow twisted wedge heads because they are already to big for a stock 302 ??

whats the most power that you really can make with a 302 H/C/I and all the other bolt ons ???

You can do almost anything with almost any parts. You can go as fast as your pockets are deep.

There is no point in porting a 170cc TFS head when its being bolted to a 302... HOWEVER.... it CAN be done, and GOOD results CAN come of it...

assuming the correct injector, intake, cam, valvetrain, and gearing are involved.

I would have just used my gt40 heads and had them fully ported and saved $500 dollars if they produce the same amount of power as the trickflow 170 heads do ....

There has to be something wrong with the trickflow kit to only produce 280 rwhp (like intake, cam or other bolt ones)

Because with a gt40 set up producing the same power with smaller valves and ports makes me wonder why ...

Is it because the heads are made to rev higher and the stock 302 does not produce good hp numbers because they dont rev high enough ??

I really would like to know the best set up to get out of a H/C/I

Whats the best intake?

Best Cam ?

like paul has said its how deep your pockets are. ive seen trickflow 170cc heads in the 350hp range so it can be done with the right setup

Cubic inches has nothing to do with how high you can rev your motor. BTW the correct parts with tfs170s and you will walk all over that gt40 set up. Like every one else has said how fast does your wallet want to be emptied. lols
Just to answer you question about the best HCI well its the one that you can afford and meat your goals with. You can go out and buy the best set of heads money has to offer but if you botch the rest of the combo you might be getting your doors blown in by that gt40 combo....get it.

Your TFS 170 heads are superior to GT40 in every way. Don't believe everything you read on the internetz. There is nothing wrong with the TFS kit (heck, I have one on my car) - they are a proven performer that makes adequate power combined with good streetability for a VERY affordable price. Hard to beat. You're not going to win any NMRA events with them, but that doesn't mean it's a bad kit.

There is no "best" HCI combination. No best intake. No best cam. No best heads.

Combinations are as diverse as people. You try to pick out a setup that does what YOU need the car to do, for the amount of money you want to spend.

I am deciding on my future mods too...so far I have chosen AFR 165cc heads with a ported GT40 /Cobra intake (Tmoss?) and a very mild cam like the Steeda 19 or the equivalent in Comp Cams lineup. With the GT40 intake I can add the Kenne Bell Blower later on...LOL, I am open to suggestions for a better combo especially on the cam. My goal is a very streetable non tempermental car that has a bit of power to it. If I get to 300HP I'd be VERY happy. Anything more is just a nice bonus. Low 13's to possibly high 12's is perfect for me.

We are on the same page bro for sure...

I want the same thing but have decided to just go ahead and do the cam and get the car tuned and be done with it...

I just hate that all these new cars have 300 to 400 hp with a smooth idle and great gas millage ...

Porting and gasket matching, buying the right parts and yeah you can make about 300rwhp with gt40 irons. Just got spend the money to get it done
