Trac Lok friction plates need replacing....not too bad a job but might as well do the bearings while you have it all open.

Do u hear/feel the rear chatter when taking turns? My car did that awhile back I changed the fluid and added friction modifier and I was back to two wheel peel. I'd give that a whirl before pulling the rear apart to change the clutch packs in the carrier. I've got 145k on my 03 and haven't changed the clutch packs yet

i can deal with the smell and all that the biggest problem i have is the money which wouldnt be a problem if i could just get my transmission sold but that has proven to be quite the endeavor

keep in mind the OEM t-lok isnt true posi. ;-) It's good enough (you wont notice a performance difference between the t-lok and true posi)... :) Just wanted to throw that out there.

I always use two bottles of friction modifier. If you think old gear oil smells bad friction modifier is disgusting . That and burnt trans fluid are my two least favorite parts of owning a performance shop. My old lady who isn't into cars can now tell what I was doing at work usually right when I walk in the door now... She's like of you install some gears today ? Or she made a funny the other day ur blowin Trannys again lmao.

Like the boys said before ripping it apart I'd put new fluid and friction modifier in .

I'm having a similar issue with my recently purchased '02 GT. Except when Trac Loc is off she does something screwy... If I accelerate too quickly the Trac Loc light comes on and she does something like a stalling jerk. I turned trac loc off and did a quick burn out to see if both wheels turn but only my right side did...? Is this a bad set of gears, a sheared axle or something else? Also, at low speeds she makes a small, quiet clunking sound like the gears aren't meeting up or something? Please advise! I'd rather do the work myself than take it to a garage that's going to do something that I can handle. I just need to troubleshoot the problem and that's where I'm a little inexperienced...

Hahaha right. There are 2 types of forums.... Get flamed for not searching or get flamed for zombie threads!

I have learned to link an old thread in my post especially when threads are old old... new technology comes out all the time. Its annoying to answer the same stuff over and over but sometimes the market changes.... BBK used to be good now they are UPR quality to me.... opinions change....
