Ok, so I'm pretty sure that my car is all hooked up for a remote to unlock doors and trunk and all but how can I check and if it is already installed, what do I need to do to get it working and all? Putting the key in it gets old after a while...

Also, I was wondering about car alarms? Did our cars come with them stock? Cuz I mean I don't have the remote but like I said I think it's hooked up *at least that's what my dad said* so i was wondering about that too....

I'm pretty sure all Mustangs with power door locks came with remote keyless entry. I'm not sure we have what's considered an alarm but more of an anti theft thing, I know my horn will honk if my locked door is opened.

Right, well mine doesn't currently do that but how can I see if I have keyless entry hooked up and would all I need to do is get a remote and a battery and I'm set? Cuz that wouldn't make sense cuz then I could unlock any mustang door with it... is there some way to program it to my car?

help....

my car had an alarm from the factory, but it was crap. i had it replaced with my Viper 791XV.

Take it to a best buy or cartoys or just a local alarm guy. they can fix you up cheap.

Yeah since you're 96+ it should be pretty easy. Get in your car and close the door, make sure it's unlocked. Then turn your ignition on and off 8 times, not starting the car but just so the lights turn on and off, don't turn it all the way off either. On the 8th time leave the ignition ON, all the doors should lock and unlock. If that happens then you should have keyless entry. After it does the lock/unlock cycle you would hit a button on your remote, the door locks would cycle again. You do all the remotes you have and then turn off the ignition. The locks will cycle once again and then your remotes are programmed.

I believe I have 2 remotes for 96+ stang sitting on my computer desk :coolsmiley:

Otherwise eBay is a good bet.

Edit: Looks like i may have the 99+ remotes, i thought 96 would be the same. If that's the case the way i posted for programming your fobs may be incorrect also. I know on my car i have to pull back the trunk carpet on the drivers side. There is a lil connector thing you have to connect with a paper clip to program the fobs. Do you know what your stock fobs look like? Maybe someone with a '96 can post a pic of what their remote looks like.

you just put cheap and car-toys in the same line. thats a nono. :hammer: :hammer:

car toys rips you off like no other. they wanted me to pay 400 dollars to get an alarm installed and 500 for the alarm itself for my old truck. needless to say, i got Circuit City to do the install for 80 bucks.

i will be installing my Clifford alarm when i buy it this summer. :thumb:
