replacement transmission inevitable

So for as long as I can remember, I've had to go into first before going into reverse. Before the car is completely warmed up, if I shift quickly, I'll grind 2nd. So I know it's coming. What are my options? I'd be much happier with a rebuilt tranny than a "low mileage" used one. That lovely T-56 Magnum package is too much.

That's been done. Along with a 2 hook quadrant. Sadly didn't help.

When you put it into a foward gear before reverse you are stopping the internals from rotating. I always shift into a forward gear, then into reverse.
