Reverse gear sucks.

anybody know why my (sometimes) my car won't stay in reverse gear and sometimes grinds when i try to put it in reverse. i always have to keep a hand on the shifter when i am backing up to feel if it's gonna pop out of gear. weird.

I know the t5's reverse gear is straight cut gear so thats y it grinds if you dont put it in another gear w/o letting off the clutch. I dunno about your tranny (tremec 3650 i think?) but it shouldnt pop out.

If it does that again, try going into 5th and just barely let out on the clutch... then go back into reverse... youll actualy be turning the gears over just enough to line em up... trust me... i do this almost every morning... this also helps if you cant get it into reverse too...

Just go 1st to reverse, or 5th to reverse. Its the way the trannys are, they shouldnt nesscarly grind but they go in a lot easier if you go from 1st or 5th to reverse.

this is what i have been doing.. going from 5th-R. just wondering if there was something majorly wrong. thanks for all the input guys.
