won't that be awkward to look up to manage the controller? i knew you were doing the display which is facing towards you but the actual controls looks like the screen might too much of angle to read properly. have you tested it yet?

not sure if I would go as far as awkward but different with it on top. I am sure it will be fun to watch for a little while but otherwise I don't expect to use it everytime I go out - although I could be wrong.... Its just a back-lit led screen so there really isn't a viewing angle on it as long as your with in eyeshot of it. It is supposed to be good in full sun positions or large angles so I am not worried about it. Now I will need to flip the front/rear sensors so that it will still show correctly on the display but that is easy enough to do.

Gotta get some better glue for the headliner in a few I don't think the stuff I have will hold.

got the hole cut in the headliner for the consol and then got the consol covered. I made the covering part more difficult because I had a trim shop sew in a 1" green stripe into the material so that it would match my shift/brake boots. Getting that lined up and straight was a pia but the end result looks perty darn nice if I do say so myself. Anyway after that I mached up the overhead and here is what that looks like. I will try to put a coat of paint on it tonight or later today and get it all ready for final install. Now I need to run wires for the overhead and the ride-tech display..... In the end I will be keeping the tan portion of the consol textured like it is and the rest of it will be polished gloss black with the green stripe painted on it like my center dash. Stay tuned more to come...

Whatcha think not too shabby or just another thing to add weight and slow me down?

looks pretty sweet. can you get a shot from a little farther back? I can't get a good reference on how big it is or how far it hangs down.

will do but also remember that the rest of it that mounts to it hangs down in a smooth curve as well. The back portion is made to house a garage door opener(the velcro holds in place and there is a button on the cover) and then the front will tell direction, amplifier/bottle temp. It doesn't hang down far enough to interfere with the rear-view mirror so it really just takes up that useless space between the visors. I think it will go ok with the rest of the interior really once it is all painted to match.

I love all these ideas & the work going on....I wonder an air ride might be the answer I need ....I have side exit exhaust to put on but if I do the clearance will be so low I will not get into my garage!!! (Steep driveway & sharp breakover to the garage) Now if I had the rear setup so that I could raise it at will I would clear the high point!!! Any idea how much investment to do a simple air ride maybe only in the rear? Probably need to do all four corners? Any draw backs on the road etc? Never looked into this before! Thanks & good luck!!! Looking good so far!

the side exhaust is the very reason I went with this setup and why I have not lowered my car yet. not sure about just the rear as this is new to me as well maybe someone else can chime in but I don't think it would be a problem. But if you are gonna do it why not just go ahead and do all 4 imo?

nk.... Been working on the display and what can I say the devil was in the details....

Started with this.

The edge around the ride-tech display was done but you notice there is something missing infront of the temp/compass display. The original piece of plastic it went through was green to match the dash. I have switched the dash lighting to blue some time ago and the ride-tech display is blue as well, so green would not do... I also wanted it a little larger so I can put an led or two in there to show if I am reading the amp or the bottle temp, so I enlarged the hole a little and then cut a piece of plexi that fit in nice/n/tight.

Now in the pic above the plexi is covered with tape as well as the surrounding area I do not want epoxy on. I used an epoxy called plastic-weld from autozone to fill the area in between. the tape and then the sanding began.... After sanding the high spots, filling the low, sanding some more, filling again, primer-sand-primer-sand sand sand sand, paint, tint and clear you end up with this.

Still need to wet-sand and then polish which will take the edge of the paint around the display away hopefully for a seemless blend from the black to the plexi and then allow the nice white/blue flourescent display shine through. I will get the hrns and power it up a little later and get a pic as I want to see it myself....

thanks guys. Wet-sanded it last night and decided to put another coat of clear on it instead of polishing. There is still a small square area around the display where the paint ends that I am trying to even out for a seemless look from the black areas to the plexi. Hopefully the display will just look like it is floating behind it. I have been considering tinting the lense infront of my gauges and the wiring them up to light up through it. I have seen it done on other cars and it looks pretty cool when its done right....

yesterday I was painting outside, got some dust in the clear... Today I decided to take it indoors to avoid the dust so wouldn't ya know it I find my dogs hair in the clear today. Oh well I am not done with the piece totally as I will be adding some more crap on the back and will need to refinish it then. and how can I get bad at this?

Her hair is so fine/thin I could only describe it as actual kitten-fur, only much longer. And it must be hollow because she is well enoug insulated to just lay on the snow with no problems and after you pet her you will see the fur floating around. Must have been on my shirt or something.

wasn't feeling that great the past few days but managed enough time last night to make the mounting plate for the display to mount too and this is the final look. I am not showing the back part because I just painted it gloss as I am not done with it yet, still have plans...

Ended up with a nice solid mount that will be easy to adjust, still wish it was gloss though. Gonna try and get the wiring finished tonight, the headliner back in and finally this suck mounted...
