So lifting the front of the car for engine removal is easier than bringing the engine out the top? What all has to come loose to do this?

Steering shaft, mid-pipe, drive shaft, power steering & HVAC stuff can be secured in place, fuel lines, coolant system stuff and wiring.

Mark the k-member to the body for re-installation and drop it all at once.

do you just draw a line on it or do you drill some small holes through them both to align later?
For the k member? Drill a 1/8” hole through the k member into the frame and when you put it back up, use two 1/8” punches through the holes to align it.

Today I primed my engine block, timing cover, intake manifold, and transmission. Tomorrow I will spray base/clear on them and be ready for rebuild. I’ve got all my parts to rebuild my transmission, just waiting to get the crankshaft back from balancing at the machine shop.

I ordered a billet 5-R shift fork that takes the trans from a double disconnect system to a single disconnect setup and cures the infamous hard to get in reverse issue the t45 has.
