this questions mainly to people that have gone from solid rockers to roller rockers on the pushrod engines..

Ive been wondering about if roller rockers are really worth getting.. ive heard that going from solid rocker to a roller rocker can free anywhere from 15-30 hp by themselfs.. so im just wondering if anyone has actually seen it dyno wise or not?

ive been thinking that later in the very distant future when i do the engine build up on mine that id junk the stock solid rocker arms and go with some stud mount ones.. but wondering if theyd really be worth the $500 to get them... I figure if i went with them id go with stud mount ones cuz they say on the v6's the pedestal mount ones have some clearance issues and are not ideal geometry wise for them either..

The difference is nominal. As a stand-alone modification, they are not worth it. There is NO WAY you would see more than 1-2 hp (if that) from roller rockers alone.

If you're doing a complete motor build with good parts, then roller rockers are just "part of the package" IMHO. Comp Cams Pro Magnums are very nice, and I use them in all my cars.

I just bought the comp slider type rockers with the roller tips. I can't imagine them costing me any real power and they were dirt cheap/high quality. Oh, they were studs though.

Also depending on your build you can always find sets of the crane roller rockers ford used in the 93-95 Cobras used on the corral. They go for like $100 and if your build isn't crazy they're just fine. I only got rid of mine because my heads were set up for studs.

I dyno'd my 94 GT with the regular rockers and standard factory air intake. I then installed the roller rockers, the 65mm throttle body, and a fairly straight-forward air intake off of eBay: no curves, etc. I left the air filter in the stock location, due to the rules of the race class in which I run: no cold air intake.

Total hp gain was ~10hp. I honestly don't know how much of that gain to attribute to which of the three changes. But I do know that when I installed a set of original GT-40 heads (iron, not aluminum) I picked up 30 hp 30 ft lbs of torque. THAT was worth the time and money.
