Would there be any gains from a Distributor Cap change?

I noticed a little difference when I changed mine over with the rotor too. Idled quieter and smoother too. But mine was SHOT it was just toast. Got an MSD cap and rotor in a little kit thing at Kragen for 20$

I thought it was well worth what it did for me. Its something you gotta replace some other time anyway might as well do it if you can.
