Possibly stuck t-stat,or maybe air pocket in the coolant which very simple to fix, dead fan, or ccrm for fan, which you can buy a new ccrm $$$, or cut the pig tail and run a toggle switch(there are write-ups). An easy way to test the ccrm and the fan is to turn the a/c to max and the fan should come on, if it doesn't then one of those is your problem. That is all I can think of at the moment.

is it loosing coolant? low coolant light "should" be coming on to alert the owner. passenger side seam on the radiator is a pretty common area for these cars to leak. is the fan working, possibly the CCRM not working therefore no fan, or bad fan motor.

oh and i see your avatar is from Zmax, i was there were you?

The 96's had a silent recall for the radiator/fan assembly being below par and overheating. If you complained they upgraded you to the newer 97 up rad/fan assembly for free.

Mine overheated right in front of the Ford dealer and puked coolant all over the road and they said nothing was wrong after having it for a day. I never actually checked to see if they swapped parts after reading of the recall several years later.
