Ok guys so I finally put the car on a dyno and I was kind of impressed by the numbers, it made 230/280 to the wheels. The following mods are upper/lower cobra intake, bbk equal shorties , some no name brand o/r Hpipe and mac mufflers, underdrive pulleys and a recently purchased C&L air filter intake. The intake came with a 76mm maf housing and sampling tube calibrated for 19# injectors, I still have the stock throttle body. Anyways the problem is the car runs lean, during the dyno pulls at idle it had a fine a/f ratio of 14.7/1 and during cruising it stayed perfect, but as soon as the guy got on it the a/f went to 15/1 and it stayed there all the way up to 6000 rpm. The tuner told me is running way to lean during wot and that the C&L is whats making the car go lean, he said because of the bigger maf housing the air going in it slows down and the sensor does not read properly but I think that's BS because our mafs have a separate port that the air has to flow for the sensor alone and it does not matter how big the housing is. You guys think the maf thing is true ?

Is the car being tuned? C&Ls have been known to do funky things. However, put the stock 70mm MAF back in and see what happens. Only way to rule out the maf doing weird things.

BTW Nice car. My old 95 was a Vibrant Red as well.

Maybe clocking the C&L might help, Foxes have issues with it from time to time. What about fuel system? Do you have a stock fuel pump? When is the last time you changed the fuel filter?

Also, doesn't the OBD1 just go full injector pulse at WOT? IE, the MAF does not adjust injector at WOT? I may be off base, but I thought in open loop it just used tables?

Yeah I'd try again with the stock MAF, I've heard some not great things about C&L. with your current mods I can't really see any reason why your car should be going lean.

Not to beat a dead horse, but your tuner knows better than you. He just might not have fully explained himself.

C&L MAF housings are junk. Put your stock 70mm back on.

Damn so I just wasted almost 300 bucks for nothing? I should have gotten a regular CAI instead, oh well atleast I still have the pipe and filter housing cover thing wich looks nice.

U know whats nice , this motor is almost 200k miles with lower compression on number 8 and bad piston rings, I can imagine a healthy motor making close to 260 . That's without even opening the engine up with the stock junk heads.

Not 260 to the wheels. My healthy E7 headed bolt-on motor made 245 to the wheels, but it had a e303.

I think your 230 is pretty good, but not uncommon for your mods.
