So I managed to come up with both a pristine decklid and wing both painted. The decklid never had a wing on it so I am going to have to drill. The wing is a bolt type and it came with everything I need to install it. Now my question is, what are the proper steps for putting on the wing correctly without screwing it up. I have already figured out how to swap the locks which was one thing I was worried about, but it wasn't too hard. I want it straight and conformed to body as much as possible. Now, it's my understanding that when some people tried to just swap out just wings on their GT's; the bolts and the holes didn't line up. So I am glad I got one without the holes already. What are the proper steps to drill through paint? Do I need to put a bead of silicon so it doesn't leak? Thanks Guys I appreciate it. Oh and check my add in the for sale section for the original decklid with wing  Justin

Re: S281 Wing on a bare deckild

should be staight fwd. some masking tape where is going to be bolted and don't be cheap with it. find center on the wing and the deck lid and line up those marks. the hardest part will be finding the bolt holes. get some play-doh and spread thin where you think the holes are and set the wing down while lining up center. when you lift it up you should see a raised circle where the hole is. transfer that circle to the masking tape and there's where you need to drill. start with a small bit first to keep it centered. DO NOT EVER USE SILCONE ON YOU CAR it holds moisture and causes rust. hopefully the wing came with gaskets, use those or make some

Should I do it with the trunk attached to the car or with it off?

I used a heat gun to make sure the ends of the spoiler were on firm and then i used two small c-clamps.let it sat on on the drive way for about 2 days, took the clamps off, no problem.

Notice that the outer part doesn't sit flush with the rear fender on some of those while it does on others. I think that's what Javi was talking about when he mentioned c-clamps.

Re: S281 Wing on a bare deckild

So, I got the bare decklid in the car, and I took some pics. I think it actually doesn't look too bad without a spoiler. I just can't wait to get my S281 wing in and see it on that...

I didnt have a chance to get pics of the clamps on the lid, so you could see how i used them.

With thess c-clamps i used i had to turn them upside down so they wont hit the rear fender and scratch the paint, the clamps are thin enough to fit in between the fender and the lid with the lid shut.

i would of got some pics with them on but im gone vacation and i completely forgot about it.i hope this helps.

I bought them for $4 at the pawn shop.

Good Luck.

Alright the wing should be here any minute now, and standby for pics, I may take alot of pics and write something up on it we'll see. The weather here is 50/50 rain and it looks and feels like it. I hope to God it doesn't rain while I put this wing on. Everyone make a wish or say a prayer for me please. I'm putting this thing on today no matter what....
As far as the clamps go javi, I see how those would almost perfectly fit through the body line. The wing I got was already painted and on another car, so hopefully the ends are all bent down and fitted. If they are not then I'm going to sears....Updates should be up by 1700 pst....
