I am starting this thread to show the progress on my '94 gt. I bought it off craigslist the other day rotting in a guys driveway. He had been side swiped in the car quite a while back. In order to save money to fix it he pulled the tag and insurance off the car. The city was soon on hom threatening him with a fine, and then he had a kid. Long story short he knew he would ever fix it and I picked it up for $1000. It has 100,000 miles, 5.0 5speed and actually runs and drives good. Its 100% stock right now, but I hope to do a few mods along the way. I picked up a black hood for it for $100 the other day and plan to pick up some other cheap parts soon along with a set of the factory pony wheels like are on it with good tires for $200. Once I get all the body panels on and body work done Ill repaint the whole thing. Ill start by posting some pics of it as it was when I brought it home this weekend. Feel free to give me any tips or suggestions!

I definitely see potential. The nice thing about starting with something like that is you can only get better from here.

I started on the interior tonight. It'll clean up and look pretty nice. The carpet is easily salvageable. The seat are what will drive me nuts the most. They are actually coming clean, but still of course have those wrinkle marks still in them. The back seat is perfect. The mustang took no structural damage luckily. Hood, fender, door, header panel and some new lights will take care of all the major stuff. The door is an easy fix as well. I was going thru it tonight and actually found the original build sheet from ;94. Thought that was pretty cool

Anyone got any input on replacement fenders? Im hoping to find a factory one in decent shape, but thought about buying aftermarket. Americanmuscle wants $199 for one! Are cheaper ones decent? or do they fit at all?

As long as it's mostly straight and solid, it looks like you got a great deal on a project with tons of potential. As for fenders, try local junkyards or Craigslist if your budget is tight.

nice find...easy fix...wish there were some of those around here...people with their mustangs around here are stupid...asking 6k for a 145,000 1997 Gt with minor bolt ons...5.0's for 6k with 100k + just dumb...

Here's kind what I have planned to do to the car once its painted. Let me know if this will be beneficial, or just a big waste of time and money. I want to add:
CAI
throttle body
Bigger MAF housing
Header
offroad mac prochamber
cat back
SCT-4 bank Eliminator chip

Think Ill see a decent increase in power with this stuff?

CAI - maybe a slight increase
TB - another slight increase
MAF - again slight
Header - yes the factory ones are trash, get longtubes
Pro Chamber - get one to match the longtubes
Cat back - Get a Dynomax Ultra Flow catback, you'll fall in love with it
Chipping a stock 5.0 motor... not really besides getting rid of the tip-in-retard when shifting

Honestly, as long as the heads and intake are the stock E7s the car will never really be fast. It might sound and look great but the factory pieces are really just garbage. Ford didn't put a decent cylinder head on a non Cobra Mustang from 1974-1998.

Nice. Make sure when you get a new headlight header panel with your new fender. If you just get a new fender the alignment of fender will be off. And try to find a used cobra manifold for some extra ponies. Not really an expert on the pushrods but I think they flow better.

If left the motor stock and just added a cobra intake would it add much power? Also would I have to have it dyno'd to run?

Im not really looking for the thing to be really fast just yet since I plan to use it for a daily driver back and forth to work. If I did all the things I mentioned how many hp do you think it would add? And what is one of these cars suposed to run in the quarter mile bone stock? Im basically just wanting to add as much hp as cheap/quick as possible with out having to tear into the motor since Id have to pay someone to do that kinda stuff.

Great find, Keep us updated on progress. I have the same scheme interior, I love it, and no, I cant get the wrinkle dirt out either, it's gonna take a seat rebuild kit. There are some post here with parts cars, hit those members up, you may be able to get the whole side of your car in 1 swoop.
