what you could do too is send off your cams you have now and get them ground, most of the time that is the better way to go because your cams are already worn into the caps and the lifters and everything

That's not better, that's a cheesy re-grind, and garbage. You need lash adjusters and shims with a regrind, so the whole "wore in" arguement goes out the window there too.

I've just heard it's better than stock and alot cheaper than buying whole new cams. that's the only reason i suggested it :dunno:

You can get more duration that way, but it will be a lamer ramp rate than off the shelf cams and you can't get any extra lift. Plus then you have to screw with the shims and crap.

There was a time when that was all we had. I think I still have a set of Mod Max regrinds somewhere, but nowadyas, it's just not worth it, you can find Comp NPI grinds for 250-300, or even less if you search hard.

To the OP, I think that will be best for you to acheive your goals, patience, and a clear path to set down to begin with. Make a list of the thing's you want (I.E. longtubes, heads, suspension bits, etc) and start saving money. Start looking around too, you never know when a deal might pop up, you can get LCA's for as low as 50 bucks, you just have to be ready, and you have to have the time to look for the stuff.

All highschool seniors have to do a senior project in NC. Its a requirement to get out of highschool. But I had put PI cams up there. I guess they arent really gonna do the job will they?

The senior project is the stupidest and most waisted time I have ever done. As you can tell we had to do it here in GA. :tickedoff:

It really is. I am at school now, and like you need at least 15 hours of actual work on the project. You need tons of pictures, video, a portfolio, and a product. You need a mentor to be with you those 15 hours, and alot of other crap. Working, plus school, plus this senior project really robs you of any free time you may have to yourself. Thats why I chose to do mine on something I enjoy, and can appreciate after I finish. At least my time isn't waisted that much. But yeah, do you think comp cams would have something for my application, that would help me reach that 305whp goal?

Comp 270's would hit it for sure, maybe 268's, probably not 262's. You can find those used pretty easily.

VT stage II's or Hitech's would be better, but they are harder to find used.

I just looked the 270's up and it says I need a 2000+ stall. Why is this?

Because that's comp's canned answer to everything, you already have a 2700 rpm stall.

Comp goes by old school car's, bigger V8's like 350's and 351w's that come stock with stall speeds of around 1600.

But a stall would be beneficial (If you had an auto), since any aftermarket cam will shift the power band higher.

Ohh okay, I was curious about that. But I got good news on how the senior project is going. I have to do the career day part of it, at Fastlane Motorsports :thumb:. I dropped by there today and talked with the owner for a little bit, and Im there on Thursday from 9-4. Also, my friend who had just joined the airforce got a pretty large signing bonus, so he is loaning me pretty much as much money as I need for this project. Things are looking well for the car. I made a parts list for it as well, I will post it up so you guys can inform me on what I need and dont need. Anyways, just thought I would update on the project

Off topioc but I remember I had to do a senior project.

I choose to do me. All I did was sign my name on a piece of torn paper, handed that in and got all the points possible, plus 5 bonus pts :afro:

Awesome news dude!! Just a quick question/pointer. Get a leakdown test on the shortblock so you know what kind of shape it's in first.
