That was a gay title, wasn't it. Anyway. Hopefully this is okay. The build actually happned last winter. The awesome forum i had my build archived on proved to be unstable and well, was ultimately lost. I' like to introduce the project here up to its current state and update as things move on. Hopefully this is acceptable.
She started out as a beautiful laser red 2000 Mustang GT. She received a brand new '00 FRPP Cobra drive train. This guy was complete, intake to trans OPS. Enjoyed for a few years like that with minor changes tragedy struck when the wife and i were involved in an accident. (drunk driver/jeep). The car wasn't very badly damaged however due to its age, and the fact that the airbags deployed it was totaled. I contemplated repairing it. Decided against the branded title. Every time i saw a stang with a dark interior, i got a tad unhappy with my tan interior. I had at one point decided to make a change to black/charcoal interior. Pretty much that fact alone was enough for me to start looking for a 99-04 mustang with a dark interior in order to swap all of my parts into. It wasn't long before i found a freak add for a GT down in Connecticut, on autotrader. I decided to go take a look at it. The listing had it listed as a cobra package, 2000 GT in the color silver metallic. Looking at the pics i spied what looked exactly like a terminator, save for the automatic shifter, single din radio bezel and 99-00 console, and more telling the obvious 2V GT engine. BONUS! it has a Vortech SC. The kicker was, that it was described to have 19K miles and was listed for 10K. When i arrived at the GM dealership i was pleasantly surprised by an absolutely clean, mint mustang. I took her for a drive and was happy with the car, and the vision of me taking her apart. They showed me a ridiculous stack of receipts and paperwork regarding the car (adding to over 10 grand parts and labor) save for any of the body parts and work, wheels, tires, or brakes. All of the mechanical work was done at Mustang Magic in NY. A few phone calls and one unhappy wife later i was signing the paperwork on the car. Long story short, I stripped down the laser red car, brought the silver one "home", stripped it down and sold off everything that i didn't need off of the car. Now came to deciding on the color. I couldn't deal with silver. Heck, by best friend pulled into my driveway and didn't notice the "cobra" sitting there thinking it was my wife's silver alearo. I couldn't justify taking the time, effort and money only to paint it a factory ford color either, despite how much i loved the laser red. I thought of sonic blue but i've always loved "burnt orange". It was a quick and easy decision to go with Dodges "GO MANGO, or GO MAN GO" depending on how you look at it. I painted the engine bay and jambed the car up. Once that was done i could move on with the 4Valve conversion, paint the car and come spring time, drive it. It remained basically unchanged over the summer. This is pretty much where i am as of now.
