short shifter install

whats involved in installing a short throw? and exactl wht componets re removed>

the shifter bezel is removed, then the shifter handle, then the four screws holdin down the dust boot, then the four bolts holding the shifter to the tranny. its really straightforward once you get the shifter bezel(ie-the plastic peice) off.

Any tips on how to do that easily without scraping or cracking anything? What do you use to pop it out of place?

mine just popped out. there are little tabs that a screwdriver can fit in.

Another vote for the tri-ax. The plastic panel pulls out using just your hands. This is a very VERY basic modification and super easy with hand tools.

Just make SURE you get a shifter with positive stops and properly adjust them.

if he has a t-45 it is built with internal stops. but unless he is a 98 he will most likely have the t-5

96-2001 had the t-45. Since this is in the 5.0 specific section I'm assuming he has a t-5.
