I’m looking to upgrade my stock shifter to a short throw. Three that come up are MGW, Steeda Tri-Ax, and Pro 5.0. Any recommendations? I have a 2001 GT 4.6.

When looking at the MGW, they are offered with the choice of three handles: race, standard and comfort. Do you recall which one you chose?

Im always looking at used parts and used short throw shifters of any brand EXCEPT MGW are available. I personally have not experience MGW but I think there is something to be said about the used market non-availability of the MGW.

I had an MGW in my '02 with 3650 and it was great. I like the fact I could adjust it to fit my positioning. I never had an issue with it. Sold it with the trans when I put my TKX in.

I bought all 3 handles for my MGW. I tried all three and ended up settling on the comfort pro handle.

I have an MGW in both my Fox and my SN95. I had a tri-ax years ago in my Fox and traded someone for their MGW.

Mike, do you still have the 3 handles? I've been looking to try out the race one. I have the standard one now.

Yup. I have all three. Comfort is in the car. You can try the race on yours if you want but I do want to keep the handle. Send me a message and let me know.

Hi, differently-budgeted here lol I have an SR performance short-throw for my 99; and no complaints so far. A bolt backed out the first time, but I didn't let the locktite sit that long. Since then, it's been smooth sailing. Doesn't mean it's the best option, but for my budget, I've been happy. Good luck!

I have also the Summit Racing shifter which seems to be a copy (or equivalent?) of the triaxis. I'm happy with it, but I was first surprised how much more transmission noise it brings into the interior. I got used to it by now. :)

Thanks for all the replies. I ordered the MGW with the standard handle. I like the fact that it can be adjusted to bottom end of the comfort handle and the top end of the racing handle. Probably will start in the middle and go from there.

So I installed the MGW shifter last night. As it turns out, it already had an aftermarket shifter on it. A SVE shifter. But regardless, the MGW is a huge improvement. Much better shifting and much more fun to drive! Easy to replace. And MGW has an excellent step by step video for the installation. Very happy!
