02 Saleen Kenne bel,l 5 speed, 466rwhp, 14psi, blah blah. I'm going to have to get my rear end redone bc of the crap job the shop did on it. So I'm debating on staying 3.73 or dropping to 3.55.. I know the plus of low gearing but in theory ill stay in boost longer with higher gearing since it builds boost similar to a turbo. Whats you guys opinions?

Me personally would stick to the 3.73s... I have them in my 95 gt turbo and love them, since you have them honestly you won't really see to much of a difference taking one step down to 3.55s either, but just my opinion

since when do KBs build boost like a turbo? you know what your car is like with the 3.73s, if you feel like you'd like the gears to be longer then change it.

Builds boost similar to turbos. The right size turbo will be full boost by 3, 500 rpm as opposed to centris building boost as the rpms climb and reaches full boost at redline.

With a blower I'd stick with the 73s unless you feel your shifting too fast. If you had a turbo I'd recommend going down to a stock 3.27 but that's a different story

KBs are full boost by 2000rpm, and it's all there as soon as you put your foot down. Turbos are getting a lot better but they're still more like centri blowers than roots blowers.

KB is not like a turbo. Since you have full boost almost immediately, I'd go with the 3.55. The whole point of gearing up is to get quicker acceleration without changing power, drag racing excluded. Since you'll have more power under the curve before redline, a little less gear will let you use it more. If you want to get to redline ASAP then a centri blower and gears would have been fine. Of course, if you don't think you are shifting too soon, then keep your current gears. Personally, I'd drop down to the 3.55 and enjoy the pull.

I'm thinking 3.55s. With a stock bottom end I rarely see redline and it makes max power AT redline.
And yeah I know its different than a turbo but it builds more like it than a centri.

Someone has been giving you mis-information on power adders, my friend.

I'd suggest staying with the 373s.

Is this a track car or street car? Different variables can help you decide this..especially your torque, how much are you putting down? If you have a big difference (higher end) in torque then hp in my opinion go with 3.55s if your torque will make your car pull hard...if your range is close then go with 3.73s ...this is just my opinion.

I agree Chris. Builds boost yes. Builds boost the same, no. The kb has instantaneous boost unlike turbos have a lag and usually can be sorted out with cam/gearing/turbo size but never will build boost the same...just my opinion

3.55's seem to be a common gear for any car making near 500hp, anything shorter and you're just not in the gear long enough and at the strip it could mean an additional gear shift. This is especially true for those with T56's.
