I was thinking about "gutting" my car?

Maybe dropping the a/c all sound deadening and rear seat.

Is it even worth it lol?

My a/c stopped working and I heard theres like 50-60 pounds of shit to remove?

If it doesnt work, why not?

Rear seat can get gone. Carpeting is sort of a toss-up. As much heat as comes through my center console, I can't imagine it with 0 carpet everywhere.

i wouldnt really call that gutting your car. if you take out ALL the plastics, the rear seats, the thing over the seats, the speakers and or Mach sound system deck, door panels and dash, center console. shit like that would be gutting an interior, IMO.

but yeah man id go for it. i took my AC crap out and i losta bout 40ishlbs of stuff and also relocated the battery. so now we are talking a good 60-70lbs off the front end. a difference that i could deff feel.

i want to take my sound deadening material out too, and i have a rear seat delete i throw in sometimes.

I guess I should rephrase it..

I dont want to gut it, but I wouldnt mind dropping 100+ lbs on a/c sound dead and rear seat.

Ill keep all the interior other than that

I had a battery relocation kit...I shouldnt have sold it, lol

Do you frequently drive the car in warm weather? I would just fix the AC if yes. 50lbs isn't enough to lose that kind of comfort. I love having a fast car that is still comfortable to be in :p. I don't need weight reduction anyways, I weigh only 135lbs so me being the driver is kinda like weight reduction lol

If i were you, I would just get it fixed. Only thing I would probably do is rear seat delete if no one sits in the back of your car, but overall I hate taking things out of cars. Probably the only thing I would take out is the spare/jack lol

Hmmm, I dunno...its 50 lbs off the nose though.

It works but I guess I have a leak in one of my metal lines cause I lose the cooling factor this summer....

+1

thats why i took mine out, bc i like to feel the breeze, and bc the a/c hadnt worked since i got it, might have just needed a recharrge but i like the wind smacking me in the face. you will lose about 40 lbs of crap and free up about 15 horses ive heard.

are you getting a shorter belt or running a delete pulley? but trust me you will be glad you did it. also, id look into getting another battery reloc kit, bc once you remove another 20-30ish lbs off the front you will deff feel a difference

dooo itt

I would do a rear seat delete, no a/c, and no radio. I'd leave everything else cause you really don't need to do much more...

After having a gutted car... I would say no... its not worth it...

here is how i used to drive my car, plus some seats...

I now have it like this...

I dont have any of the plastic in in the back of the car at all... it has an aluminum bulkhead/ It is much more enjoyable to drive now than it ever was gutted... I only was driving once a week, and it got old quick... That was when I had the 4.6 in it... Now it makes enough power that the wieght advantage is not that much... only added 55 pounds by putting the console back in, the door panels, and the carpet...

Well worth having something. The sound deadedning is not worth taking up... its such a pain in the ass to get up... I had to do it in spots for my cage and would not take the 5 hours to get the 15 pounds out of the car if I didnt have to.

why get rid of the AC for weight and other things when you hardly run the car at the track?

lol

I still like to go fast on the street and I will take the car to the track when I get slicks.

Like I said, the a/c is not working cause I have a crack in the line somewhere...I guess I could recharge it and see if it works all summer? lol

And I dont think you gain any power removing the a/c cause when the a/c is not on there is no resistance.

If my AC goes I'd think about ditching it but there are those 4-5 days in the summer when it hits 95degrees and uber humidity that makes me consider keeping it. Showing up to work all sweaty from a hot car and leather seats isn't my idea of fun.
