should i remove my rear seats. what does a rear seat delet kit do ( i assume make my car still look clean with the seats gone).is it worth it for handling. most importantly how much weight does it remove.

Had mine out for a while with the intentions of making a rear seat delete..

Never got around to it and decided to toss them back in for now...

I had thought about doing the delete myself but I still have use for it every now and then. It looks clean without it but you really don't gain anything else from it. Not really worth the effort.

in a coupe they dont weight that much but in a vert they do.

....you lose weight if you remove them but it will be ALOT loader in the car because the rear seats act as sound insulation being right over the mufflers

I say keep it personally, rear seat looks much better than a delete.

I pulled mine from my 91 GT.......I NEVER used them so it was just dead weight IMO.......not much of a weight drop but every pound counts

yuo guys are nuts. if you remove the rear seat bracket(the one that holds down the rear backs), you know the one made of STEEL. you will lose a bunch of weight. And weight reduction isn't about losing 500 pounds with one thing, but more about losing 1 pound 500 times.

my rear seat delete i'm making is CHEAP. the materials cost me like $21.79 total. plus a staple gun and jig saw, the entire cost will be under $50. I already have the bottom done, and i should finish making the top today. I must admit though, it helps to have my roomates $200+ rearseatdelete.com rear seat delete to trace off of. :hammer:

I think it adds up to @ 40lbs of weight savings between the seats and belts etc.
I know the seats themselves are not heavy though.

im not planning on stripping my entire interior yet. I wanna lighten weight for drifting/handling purposes. what else could i remove plus the seats and without removing any other interior, not remove my AC or radio and daily driver absolute essentials.

removing the rear seats will make a huge difference, If I remember it is about 60lbs total you are removing from the car. move the batt. to the rear, and remove the rear seats then thats about a tenth you can pull off your 1/4 mile time. I pulled the rear seats and the front seats out of my old 94 gt and threw in some corbeau's and it made a HUGE difference. my only problem was that I was getting no traction after that. Raced a friend from a 1st gear roll and the back end broke loose bad when I hit it in 1st and in 2nd. If you plan on putting your car on a diet it doesn't hurt to transfer the weight ;) take 100lbs out of the front of the car then just put some balas weight in the spare wheel well of the car and it'll wake it up and help it hook up :D

the back part of the rear seat w/ bracket and all is pretty heavy. weight-savings is great--main reason i went w/ a rsd is cause i hate giving people rides, hehe
