i was expecting worse. you should see a 2.0 with descent driving on street tires, that would get you down to a 14.2.

with drag radials or slicks and spraying first gear you should hit high 13s, and spraying out the hole mid 13s.

get a stall and the times go down ALOT so long as you get the slicks/DR's first.

if you plan on spraying out the hole you will need more than the nittos.

they will be fine if you dont hit the spray until after you leave the lights, but i doubt you see much gain, maybe a low 14 with a 1.9 60'......

245s are about all you can find in a 16" tire. they should be fine for you. i think with just some practice at the track you'll improve your times a good bit. you should be hitting 2.1 60' times now, so there is still 4/10th on the table just from better driving. you could probably hit the bottle in first after you get moving and that should drop you another 1-2/10ths........

I run an auto with a 3000 stall with 280HP and I have the 275 17 MT street radial, I could launch at 2300 and was doing 2.1 60fts and ran a 14.4 at 95mph. (this is in utah with density altitude of 5500-7000ft. I like them but Im adding some power so I will be going to a 15in rim and a slick of some sort ET drag or somthing this will alow my stall to hold higher so I can get my 60ft down

SLicks.... drag radials break more things, and also requrie you to beable to tune the front suspension.... with drag radials you will be playing with the front geometery and leaving the rear alone.... slicks are opposite.

could you expand on this? It really sparked my interest.

The way I see it, a slicks sidewall will flex more than a drag radial, thus creating more of a "buffer" for the rearend ....kinda like jumping into a brick wall vs jumping into a net.

the slicks will absorb some of the shock of a launch

^ very true, with an auto the stock rear setup is fine for ALOT of power, its the manuals with hard launches where things break at lower power levels.

i think he'll be fine with either tire with only a 100shot...

yeah, transfer the weight and plant the tires, tires dont really change this, atleast if they do its news to me.

a car running 166 MPH is going to pull an impressive time regardless of how good they get off the line. We are not talking about those kinds of traps and power levels in this case
