When i turn my car on and after it gets warmed up or so... smoke starts coming off the engine bay
thats when it just been idling for a little while and i can see the smoke coming from behind the intake manifold..

could it be that i have a blown headgasket?? or rear main seal??
car runs fine...but it does have a faulty temperature gauge and the low coolant engine light comes on sometimes
however i dont see any leaks anywhere underneath the car.

what do you guys think?? any input is appreciated...

thanks...HD

After a while does it start coming out of the sides too? The same thing is happening to me. I'll give you a heads up if I ever figure it out. I'm fairly sure it's tranny fluid on mine though... Is it white smoke?

1st of all check all of your fluids, and see if any are low, burnt, or not consistant with the color and smell of clean fluids(engine oil, coolant, auto trans fluid, etc...) Also get under the car and se if there are any visible leaks such as fluids falling onto the exhaust, which may vaporize the fluid and therefore not have any noticable fluids hitting the ground. Check these and post back with some details. Also how much and what color is the smoke, and any loss of fluids or non normal fluid conditions. Also good luck

Mine does the same thing. It has actually been doing it a lot less, which is kinda scaring me that I may not have enough fluid in my tranny. I'll try to drive it tomorrow while the parents are out and get a picture of where mine leaks from.

If it's the same as mine, driving until it gets warm will be enough to start it smoking. From there just get out and see where it's leaking onto your exhaust. It's only leaked once so bad that it actually got to the ground with mine...

You didn't piss anyone off did you? :dunno:

You can pour anti-freeze in someones gas tank, it won't ruin anything but it will make the motor smoke like a mother fcuker...make you think you blew a head gasket...

Not that I would know first hand or anything...

That couldn't be, my car's tank was bone dry when it got to my house, and it was filled with all new gas.

lafenatu...the plugs are brand new and they good...

topless95...im going to check all the fluids..the smoke is consistent and its white...most likely its some type of leak that may be falling to the exhaust manifold....im going to check it out real soon and keep everyone posted as well.

What's it smell like?

Could be a leaking EGR or a minimal leak at the exhaust manifold flange just to throw a couple more possibilities into the works.

also check the grommet that the pcv valve sits in, to make sure that it is in good condition

well guys.....it turns out that my tranny seal was bad and tranny fluid was shooting out on my exhaust

replaced the seal..flush and new filter with gaskets and walla..its all good :thumb:

but...now i have another issue...after the tranny tune up.....when im at the light after a few minutes it starts
stumblin and sounds like it has a cam...it didnt do it before the tranny tune up??

i decided to take a look at the thermostat and it was shot to death so i replaced it thinking it would be good to go...but it still doing it?????????????? any suggestions....

my temp gauge is not working but im going to replace it with an autometer for better accuracy..what you guys think

Coolant temp sensors may both be bad (which would explain why your temp gauge doesn't work). Mine did that when mine was shot.

my temp gauge is all the way to the right..meaning wayyyyyyyy past (H)....so i thought it was broken right???

well....when i was driving on the freeway at about 75-80 mph...it went down to about the middle and it started goin
back up again...WTF?????

there is no leaks...replaced the faulty thermostat..and burped the system...
i may have some crap flowing around so im getting a flush done..

Im going to install a real temp gauge and go from there..it could be that my gauge temp sensores are bad???

any suggestions...

If the coolant temp sensor is busted then it would give you bad readings. One of them is hooked directly to the gauge. The other goes to the PCM, and gives it information to help the computer decide the timing and other functions. Which is why it would run bad at lights and so forth, because it (the computer) is basically moving your timing so that it isn't set right.
