Well my car is down due to not having compression in #5 cylinder. I have to pull the head off to check everything out. I was told the motor blew (oil pressure tanked and #8 was "fried") by the 2ed owner (I'm the 4th owner) and was rebuilt with all the stock stuff. So I've been wanting to pull the motor and do a simple 306 just to make sure the bottom end is done right. I also have been wanting to do a fox TB swap and get some fox valve covers. So I was thinking "What if I just get a Fox 5.0 and swap it in?!?" So what are the differences between the Fox 5.0 and the SN95 5.0???
I know I'd have to get a CAI, throttle/cruise cables, IAT and TPS sensors (and the other stuff that I'd have to do on the TB swap). I already have a Fox MAF on the car (came on there when I got it), and I have some March billet alternator/PS brackets (that apparently don't fit our 5.0's). Would they work with the Fox 5.0?? I'd also reuse my TFS Street Burner upper and lower with the #24 injectors and removing the SN95 EGR elbow, TFS1 cam & TFS TW heads. If I got a complete 5.0 from a bone yard what would I need to get it to work??
This was just an idea I had and am trying to figure out if it would work without a ton of complications. If it will end up being way more hassle then help I won't do it and not do the Fox TB swap either and either just pull the head and see if I can fix it then rebuild my motor later or just pull my motor, make it a 306 and stick it back in. I'm new to Fords and fuel injection so if this sounds really stupid then never mind me.
