edited version: i am installing electric cut outs on my car's exhaust...

we are hooking my cut outs up to a timer. green button sends power to cut out for x number of miliseconds. red button sends power to cut out for y number of miliseconds. x = open, y = close.

where should i put these buttons? My interior is completely stock (relatively speaking) so im open to suggestions. I want something sexy, like putting IRS in a fastback. but not too sexy, like putting a 4v in a '66.. .

i wanted 1 button... in the center of my dash under the clock that said "go baby go" but now that i need two buttons... im kind of lost. im thinking ashtray area?? ?

Yea I was going to say ashtray, inside glove box, or left/right side of dash (To the left and right of the steering wheel right below the speedometer and such).

Also on the door in the same area of the window and lock switch / button might work also.

I am not an expert with this stuff, so I did a little searching and I think I came up with an idea for you. How about instead of two buttons, you install a single switch?

SPDT.GIF

(SPDT is Single Pole Double Throw)

Basically have it so that "On 1" is your "x" power (to open) and "On 2" is your "y" power (to close). A "momentary" switch will return to the center position when released, so it will function the way you seem to want to utilize the buttons. What do you think?

Someone should verify that I'm correct here, just so I know I'm not posting misleading information.

you are correct. just like your window switches and pwr locks too.
I like the idea of putting the sw in the vert top sw location. And you can use the vert sw too. NO CUTTING NEDDED.

well, here's a picture of my interior.

No power windows, locks, convertible button, fog light button.

as for the switch you posted, It's not automatic... i have to hold it down...

what I'll do is show that picture to my electrical engineering buddy to see if it would work.

I really like the idea of big glowing buttons, i think it would look trick. way cooler than a little light switch :-( lol.

what do you guys think about on the side of the center consol, next to the empty bin under the sterio? (area)
