Oh noes another regular Build thread!!!!

not exactly

i am not building this car to race, be a fun weekend warrior, or even just a tasteful daily driver. i am "building" to sell. increase this car's value as much as possible.

so, some info on what im workin' with here.

car is a Performance White 1997 Mercury Sable GS Wagon with a 3.0L Vulcan Pushrod V6 and a AX4S transmission. This is the base model/trim/engine combo.

Purchase price: $0 :headbang:

41,500miles, carport kept since 1999 with 15k miles by my Grandmother.

while it does have low miles, it is not perfect, spray paint on the front and rear bumper. some overspray needs removed from a couple reflectors and trims pieces. the spray paint matches incredibly well and i will most likely leave that alone

day i brought it home, as seen in my "member's ride" thread.

First thing done when finally driven 2 hours home, remove the American Flag sticker. i do love "Amurica", but a sticker on the front bumper is not for me, and most likely not for a possible buyer.

the Parking brake light would randomly come on while driving... adding a bit of Brake fluid to the master cylinder took care of that.

things i found out that need fixed:

Passenger power mirror doesnt work. not a big deal, may leave that one alone
Power Antenna will not raise. need to source out a new one with a motor, i only receive one radio station here, not a good selling point.
Transmission leaks after being driven for more than 20 minutes. i searched on Taurus/Sable forums and found that it is common for the front seal to leak when the transmission overheats. friend at a mercury dealer is quoting a replacement seal for me. a trans cooler will be added as well.

Re: Project: Design to Sell

again, at Advance Auto, picked up a nice little present for the AX4S tranny. A Hayden Maxi-Cool XL transmission cooler.

this size is meant for RV's. i think it'll do fine lol

Re: Project: Design to Sell

in front of the A/C condenser, the general spot for coolers.

there is already an Auxiliary Trans cooler stock, opposed to Radiator based like mustangs. but it is really small.

i will be removing that and installing this in it's place. most likely will need to modify the stock cooler's mounting brackets to fit this one

Re: Project: Design to Sell

well i drove pretty damn far and long today, and gave it quite a beating too. it is not leaking from the bellhousing area anymore, but only from the trans pan.

pretty easy fix, drop the pan, change the gasket, bolt pan back up and refill

Re: Project: Design to Sell

well, with help from a Taurus/Sable forum (yes, they exist...), i have came to the conclusion that the Cam Sensor Synchronizer was making the noise.

went to Autozone and got a remanufactured Motorcraft synchro with sensor for $70. gonna put that in tomorrow.

and i had to change the Cabin Air filter. good thing i did, original 1997 Motorcraft filter. i found a feather in it...
