many people have done the 3V swap and it will makes around or as much power as a 4V would. not everyone knows everything, you just met someone that knows something you don't

BURN! He's right though, the 3-valve swap has been done and does make great power. Sorry to break it to you, but he knew more about modular Mustangs than you do.

The '73 Mustang? Horribly slow and perhaps one of the most disproportioned vehicles ever built...

My uncle had a 72 Mach 1. That thing was NASTY. Those 351 Cleveland's with the 2 bbl carb heads just went sick fast. The 4bbl carb heads valves were just to big and did not work at all down low. They had to much flow, kinda like our "B" head Cobra's.

Did they have different heads depending on which carb was used?

I'm pretty sure more head flow at any place in the RPM range is a good thing. There will never be a thing as "too much flow" Just too little engine...haha ;D

The 351Cleveland with the 4bbl carb had different heads than the 2bbl carb engines. The 4bbl heads had huge valves and would flow to good in the lower RPM ranges. They also had a problem with detonation due to the valve size. They made huge power in the upper RPM range. If you ran them at 4,000 rpm all the time they were great.

It is like the 4.6 "B" heads with out the "IRMC" valves. To much flow=poor low end torque.

351m/400s were said to having oiling issues but it is another myth. supposedly they had "oiling issues" because the main journals were enlarged but they did not make the oil galleries smaller to balance oil pressure. It is pure bs they run fine. They have a bad rep performance wise but it is because it was a engine built during the smog era so of course they suck from the factory. There is more potential in the 351m/400 than most people realize. The cleveland has a better rep which it should because it is a very good motor
