I bought this car in february and the problems keep coming ive about had it with this car. throw out bearing juss started making noise, rear sway bar cracked off, one of the pulleys juss started making noise in the engine, brake calipers rattle (cant find any shims), rear end sqeaks, front end squeaks, bushings all rotted out, weak start, and on and on and on. and it only has 49000k on it. im a mechanic i do all the work myself juss not sure if i should spend the money parst wise or sell it for a newer car. i love working on it but have a tight budget...wanna save for a house....probably the wrong timing...should have bought it later on in life

OK.....................its not all you thought it would be. With those low miles it would be a pretty good guess that anyone would tell you that it should be a great car. I am sure that alot of your disappointment comes from that fact. You may have felt that you had a great foundation to build up from. So here you are...... with a beautiful looking red Cobra with some problems. Even if it was brand new you would be spending $$$ on it in upgrades. Sure it might be nice to be waiting on your new Procharger to come in the mail instead of basic replacement parts. The good news is that you are a mechanic. You can let your skills save you alot of money on labor that many others are not knowledgeable or talented enough to try to do. Not to mention the small fortune in tools that one needs to make to be able to fix his/her own ride. Thats alot to consider when you really think about it.Also consider what you would pay for something newer even stock. So there may have been some savings their. The really good news is that you have a COBRA. You dont have to sell it to buy your house. You dont have to put a for sale sign on it because you need to buy that mini van because Jr is on his way. One last thing to consider is this .....a big part of the fun in this hobby is the pride and enjoyment you can
get from working on it yourself. Going out their in the garage turning up the Rock-N-Roll on the radio and just enjoying you and your
baby. Its always never going to be exactly where or what you want. If its fast enough........wait .....nevermind it will never be fast enough. Basicly thare will always be Bigger and Better. Human Nature. As long as its in good shape body/structual NO RUST. Everything else on these Mustangs is a dime a dozen. I hope this helps. Dont let it go. Build it up.Anyone can finance a hot rod but not everyone can build one........You Can !!!!!!

i dont want to say all those things seem minor but all those things seem minor. try some lithium grease on the bushings for now to stop the squeaking then replace them when you have the money. the squeaky pulley in the engine bay could just as easy be a split serpentine. i dont know, kinda sounds like the person that had it before you lived in a harsh climate but all the problems seem relatively cheap to fix to me but maybe not. now if you start to hear rods knocking or the wheels start to wobble, then sure sell it. but some squeaks and rattles are expected. fix them then make it fast as balls

Speaking of bad luck... I pulled out of work, crossed the street, idle dropped, and smoke came out. Somehow Im happy cause the knocking i heard was coming from the blower...but the vortech idler took a sh*t. seized and all. i juss pushed it back took it out and waiting for it to be overnighted from california. chilling waiting for my dad to pick me up. 3rd time this year the blower came out. when i bought it i overrevved it and belt shredded, second i rebuilt it and change the rear seal, third is now for the idler. but thanks a lot ur thoughts were very helpful.

yeah, dont give up. the TOB is a very, very common problem on the mustangs. trust me, i know. ive had to replace the sob so many times i dont even wanna think about it anymore  like everyone else said, the rest of the problems you are having are very minor ones. the front end squeeking, and the back end? get some subframe connectors. it will help with the squeeks and at the track. bushings? upgrade the control arms, it will help you at the track as well. sway bar cracked? get an MM one. cheaper than a stock replacement anyways. think about this tho, you didnt buy a car that has 49k miles, you bought a 10 yr old car. bushings start to go after about 5-6 years anyways. mine finally started to go out last year and i replaced them with either poly bushings or stock ones. whenever a stock part breaks, always think of it as a time to upgrade. "do it once, do it right" mentality.

don't forget, your car is like 10 years old. some things will wear out, and the best part about things breaking or wearing out.
UPGRADE.

good luck with it, and on saving up for your house.

OK one word just clarified all of your problems. VORTECH. I'm not saying there is something wrong with owning one, but that tells me that the previous owner beat on it and thus the squeaky worn out bushings, broken sway bar, and engine noise.

it just a mustang that did alot of sitting of the years. just fix it little by little and turn the radio up lol. the rear sway bar is normal. spray some lube on the bushings until you cann get a upgrade kit. All cars have there problems but you have a great start.
