Ok i feel totally dumb but i cant find the answer, my problem is i just picked up a 94 GT With Full exhaust and gears, and thats it, BUT its really sluggish on power, so i went to check the timing. When i pull the SPOUT out to try to set the timing the car just shuts off. No matter if i try reving the car or just idleing it will die as soon as the SPOUT is removed. The car had a NEW Distributor, Control Module when i got it, but i thought it may have been the problem so i changed them out with new parts again with no change in results, SOOO i used a friends PCM and still same problem, NOW i am getting a trouble cose 212 which says spout circuit grouded??? I have seen many of threads on this issue and NONE of them have an answer on how to fix it. But my main issue is with the spout in i can hook up my timing light and the timing marks stay steady and dont jump around SOOOO my conclusion is my car isnt advancing the timing like it should and this is why it feels so sluggish??

Anyone have any ideas??

The SPOUT is just a jumper. Since the timing doesn't advance with it in I suspect the problem may be the TFI module.

your timing maybe that far retarded....turn the dizzy to advance the time then restart.

the dizzy's hall effect sensor sends out the pip signal the tfi sends this to the EEC the EEC looking at all other inputs figures out when it wants the engine to fire sending that signal back to the tfi if the tfi gets no signal "such as when the spout is removed" the tfi fires when it sees the pip signal "base timing of 10 degrees btdc" now if the engine dies when you pull the spout I would agree with ryclef331 your base timing is just way to retarded and needs to be advanced hope this helps and please let us know.
