Re: NEED HELP FAST!! please

Are you sure the other 2 bolts are tight? If i remember right there are 3 bolts that hold the starter.. If they are tight then perhaps when the
starter was loose, it ground down on the starter gears teeth, and now there isn't enough material to turn the flywheel...
In short, check all the starter bolts. If they're loose, retighten and try again. If they're tight, you need a new starter.

sounds like Thumper the bunny rabbit to me... not the gear grinding on the flywheel. Id replace your starter. Sounds like its not something is seized or broken inside the starter...

but it works now so idk im just going to let it rock and when i get time put a little bit of lock tight on the bolts to make sure they stay put.

still wondering if anyone knows exactly what size bolts to hold the starter in place??

Re: NEED HELP FAST!! please

use the green locktight. its not as strong as red, but its for assembled-parts, so it will penetrate the threads so you dont have to take the bolts out.

dono what size the bolts are.

sounds just like the problem i was having... would work, wouldnt work. would work, wouldnt work. Time for a change amigo. just do it.. its $100.00 with a $50.00 core return. just get it out of the way... you'll hate yourself when youre stuck in a mall parking lot at 1AM with a car that doesnt start.

Re: NEED HELP FAST!! please

Check your flywheel. Mine had developed a flat spot on the ring gear. It sucked but I had to replace the flywheel and starter. Because it chewed the teeth on my new starter. Better to have a new starter and flywheel than to have a bad starter chew up another ring gear. I've been down that road before.

lmfao. it sucks when your starter is dead... and you KNOW its dead.... but you HAVE to go somewhere... and you learn to park on hills for pop-starts.... But what SUCKS is when you stop for gas... perfectly level surface.... forget about your bad starter. turn off the car... all alone... i had to get Ishmale the attendant to push start me. lol.

sure it isn't a dead battery? My truck makes that same noise when it is low...... What is your bat voltage at and how old is it? If you are in a cold climate it will take a little extra current to turn over.
