So I swaped drive train from my wrecked gt to another one. I got everything swaped over I got the car started twice ran a lil rough. Notice my distributor hold down bolt was a lil loose. So I figure my timing was off. Had to go work for two weeks so the car just sat. Just got off went to go time the car and it wount start. It sounds like the battery is dead but its fully charged.it turns over but real slow. Im going to mess with it tomorrow and check my grounds maybe try a diffrent starter other than that im clueless. Any ideas. I tyred three diffrent batteries

Re: Starting issues after swap

excessive resistance in the power or ground path will cause the power to be dissipated as heat, and will cause a slow cranking issue. It is very important that you inspect your power wires, and double check your ground connections, as cranking too long on a poor connection can melt a wire and possibly result in an engine fire.

and you dont want that....

If your timing is way off, the car will hard start. Verify you stabbed the distributor correctly, and that you have it positioned at a reasonable place to start the car.

Paul.

checked all my ground even added an extra gound strap from the block to the frame. still nothing going to try a diffrent starter tomorrow. might even try swapping harness. just cant see why it would start one day and not later.
i being off on my timing before but it was way diffrent. this turns over real slow. removed my serpentine belt just to see if anythign was causing a drag and nothing.

Re: Starting issues after swap

Do you have someone helping you? Have them crank it over while you slowing turn the distributer, see if it changes anything. Then you could rule it out before replacing a starter or harness

Re: Starting issues after swap

I had a problem with my 94 gt with the connector that plugs into the starter not being tight enough (im guessing its the ground wire), i unpluged it, cleaned it and reinstalled and hasnt given me a prob. yet!
