Last night I went to start my car, fired right up, but the starter kept on turning over. Even after i took the key out it was still turning over, the only thing that i can do to get it to stop is disconect the battery. I have no experience with anything like this, what could be causing this? do i need a new starter? any suggestions?

What do you mean the starter kept turning over? Do you mean the engine doesn't stop running after you turn it off? Typically that is called dieseling, My 76 MGB used to do that, but I have never heard of it happening with a fuel injected car... wish I could be more of a help

Sounds like the bendix in the starter went south, or the solenoid is stuck.... time for a new one...

what i meant by turning over is the engine started up, then the starter just kept turning over, trying to start the car while it was already running. Then I shut the car off, and the starter was still turning over like it was trying to start the car. Theres no issue with the car starting, its just the starter will not stop! and do you suggest i try a new starter? or look at a new celanoid first?

solenoid, but i dunno if the sn95 cars had a starter internal solenoid or if they were fender mount... so if they are part of the starter just get a new starter.

But if his key is off why is he getting power to the starter? Wouldn't it be an ignition power?

The pwr from the ign sw is used to energize the solenoid into contact to allow the starter to get battery power.
When the key is put to run or off the pwr is cut to the solenoid and a spring inside the starter relay cuts the pwr to the starter. So if the spring is broke or the solenoid itself is stuck then battery power can still be feeding the starter.

It definitely sounds like the starter solenoid. The question is whether it's separate or attached to the starter. I think it's part of the starter. I think

the solenoid is on the starter, start by checking power coming into the starter. see if power is removed when you release the key.
