My steering has about an inch of back and forth play. Im pretty sure its on the joint of the shaft that goes into the powersteering pump. Has anyone else had this prob. and how do u fix it?

Not where it goes into the pump. The shaft goes into the rack. The problem is the knuckle of the steering shaft itself. It wears out. You can get a new one from Ford, go to a junk yard and try to find one, or get a flamming river shaft.

They make a power steering and manual steering version...pretty expensive, but worth it.

They use U-Joints without any rubber insulation. Maybe a little NVH, but not really much more than stock and it's a great feel while "spirited" driving.
