I have a '94 GT 'vert with the stock strut tower brace. I got a cobra intake for v-day from my parents but I dont think my stock STB will fit with the cobra intake. Did 94-95 cobra 'verts come with stb's or do I have to buy an aftermarket(maximum motorsports) one?

The strut tower brace was installed there mostly for to reduce the cowl shake. If you ever drive a Fox, you'll see exactly what I mean. I recently installed Edelbrock Performer intake manifold, and stock strut tower brace would never clear it, so I went and purchased a Maximum Motorsport one. Here is a picture of what it looks like after install

Honestly speaking, while I had it off, I did not notice much of a difference if any at all.

Did you ever track it without the STB?

I did not, but it would be hard to for me to tell a difference, because I went to tubular control arms at the same time.

Well I didnt know if it would cause I big difference, I will be autoxing this car. Where every little bit will help, and since I dont have money for big suspension mods yet I wanted to make sure before I bought one.

i read somewhere on MM's website that they do not suggest driving a mustang without a STB... obviously they are trying to sell you something, and im too lazy to look up the information (mainly because i hate the set-up of their sight) so, i would look into it a little deeper before you twist something in a hard corner+break+curb hop at the track... :)

I've read that for that Ford engineers installed the strut tower brace on there to mainly deal with the cowl shake. Another thing to consider is that the brace also holds the strut towers from flexing towards the firewall under hard braking. This may not be as evident on stock pad and rotor GT, but a Cobra with a really aggressive tire and brake combo might benefit from it.

I plan on swapping out brakes for a set of cobra brakes soon, so I may just keep an eye out for one. They're only $130(?) new

If it did in fact actually make a difference i can't see why Ford would put them on the GTs but not on the Cobras.
Could it be because they didnt fit, and Ford was a lil lazy, lol

I think cheap is more like it... why did they stop using it on the '98 Cobra then, but leave the dimple in the intake tube? lol

It was budget costs, and 4.6L k member is actually stiffer, so Ford figured they did not need one anymore.
