Supercharged with PI intake?

Has anyone put the PI intake on their supercharged stang with the npi ports?

Here's my problem, I bought the SVO heads so I can supercharge. Now I'm worried that after supercharging 8psi, will it cause problems with the PI intake (ports don't exactly match up). Has anyone done this???

I have had my pi intake on since before the supercharger with no adapter plates either, just rtv. I haven't had any problems at all. :thumb:

Awesome! The last thing I want to do is buy another intake manifold....especially a npi.

I agree with droptop. That would be a serious waste of $$$ if you just through a pi intake on it. I would just stay npi until you can afford a better intake or at least add adapter plates. You could always get that new trick flow one and port match it. i dont know to much about them but it looks a lot like the svo and bullitt.

I'd seriously look high and low for a SVO Intake or a SVO Blower but i know that is easier said then done.

You could do as said above and go for an aftermarket PI Intake and have it port matched to your SVO heads. I know a few people have Bullit Intakes on SVO heads...they just needed to be matched.

I've tried to look at this from all angles. I already have PI conversion (10.5 compression ratio=supercharger unfriendly).

SVO heads flow better than PI and put my compression ratio back to normal (2 advantages).
SVO intake is anywhere from $1500-2K and I can't find a used one anywhere. HP gain per $ isn't worth it to me.
SVO supercharger is much more $$$ than the Vortech and I only found 1 company still selling it. (I'm wondering if they're going to be discontinued soon.)

Bullet + Trick flow intakes have the same ports as my current PI intake so they still won't match up to the heads. I was told that the SVO heads (as well as the stock npi) are a different casting and can't be port matched to the PI/Bullet/TF intake because there isn't as much material to cut out.

I'm just wondering if I'd be better off with the PI intake or the NPI intake. Both have advantages and disadvantages.

I THINK think being the operative word, that the alloy PI intakes can be matched at the opening to the SVO's, and I know that the SVO's and NPI's can be blended to the PI opening, it just takes a little welding. I know that Renegade offer's this, so I would assume Steen does as well.

Yeah Renegade Racing is who came to mind for me. They have port matched several NPI and SVO heads to work with Bullit Intakes.

Where do you live? Maybe i would be interested in a trade for your SVO heads for my Stage 2 P&P'd PI heads from VT Engines. Maybe

I'm in NC, a pretty good ways away. I think my decision is just to put the PI intake back on with the PI gaskets and use a little bit of silicone sealer at the coolant passage. There might be a little bit of turbulance at the heads, but I'll live with it...for now. If I find an SVO intake later down the road, it won't be a big deal to swap it out.

A little update now that the project is finished.

The PI intake fits PERFECTELY on the SVO heads with NO SILICONE NEEDED. The gaskets layed perfectly on the SVO heads. Made good power too 414.33 hp / 400.56 tq.

The graph was pretty much a stright line up to 6K.

nice numbers! Ive been running a PI intake on stock non pi heads now with a vortech sq trim at about 11-12 psi now for a year and no problems. I do have the adaptor plates though.

Was just gonna say that a guy on Corral.net is selling an SVO intake for 500 bucks. It is just the bare intake though.

I'd jump all over the svo intake for 500.

Also, i'm in Charlotte and my shop "draco performance" has one that i was looking at the other day... Nice set up. Sitting there on its own display stand lol. Don't know what they want for it though.
