I've been looking at the 96-98 SVO head complete and they say it yields a 35 hp gain. Ford Racing PN#M6049D46. 47mm intake and 36mm exhaust valves. Aluminum heads. I was planning on buying my PI heads brand new complete at 400per side respectively. I can get the SVO at a ford racing dealer locally for 900. I plan on using the Livernois kit with either set of heads i go with. Future plans are a Vortech at 10lbs with some bottom end work. Should I go with the SVO's to keep my CR ratio stock? Isn't that better for the blower? Either head will yield about the same amount of gains n/a correct? Advice, suggestions welcome.

PI is the way to go. You still have to use the NPI intake dont you? That is going to kill the heads because the intake dont flow good at all. Also the SVO heads are like $900 a piece i thought. If you can get them for $900 both complete thats great but PI heads are still cheaper and you wont have any guess work, you know it works because to many people have done it. So i would go with PI Heads outright :thumb:

Edit: Also if you are going with the blower or not PI's are better, the raise in compression does have alot of effect on the outcome and that willl be more power N/A than the SVO's. With PI's the only thing you need to do is run 93 octane.

If you can find them, since Ford doesn't make them anymore, SVO head's own PI head in every single way, except price.

I'm going to use the Livernois kit. Will bolt on to the SVO heads. Thanks for the responses guys.

I would go with the SVO heads at that price. The SVO heads match up to the npi intake but there are more options then that. You can either use the matching SVO intake (pricey) or you can also use the adepter plates that allow you to run a pi intake on npi heads. Then you can run which ever 2v intake manifold you want.

I dont know where you heard this stuff? Especially the blown part. Good luck running anything but a small amount of boost on a pi swap. Your tune will have to be crap.......

With the stock block for about 8 months, then I put a stroker in. People always say you can't run high comp and boost, you just can't, and don't need to, run as much boost.

True, but can't see dropping 1800 or so plus my shop is quoting me 1250 for install. Then i'll need a head changing kit and P.I. manifold. I'll just go for the Parkway P.I. kit for 1415 shipped including manifold and everything you need for the swap minus oil/filter/coolant. :thumb:

I'm so mad at myself for hesitating on a set of SVO heads that came up on craigslist last year for 700 new for the pair. Uggh. Since I would do the work myself, I'm holding out for the SVOs unless I get a real killer deal on a new or slightly used since I have most of the PI stuff installed anyway and untouched heads by themselves don't add much over what I have.

The kit from pkwy sounds like a worry free and complete way to go for a set of PI heads. Good luck on the upgrade and post up your results on the dyno and track if you get them!
