i am currently looking to put a new tranny in my 94. the t-5's just arent cutting it. i was wondering what the hp rating on a t-45 is out of a 96-99 cobra. i have seen a couple for sale for reasonable prices and was wondering if they are worth buying. i'm sure the bellhousing has to be changed, but is there anything else i would have to do to make the swap?

the tq rating is like 300lb/ft, and like you said, the bellhousing has to be changed, but you can't because in the t45, the bellhousing is part of the transmision, is like a front cover, and as far as i know, no one makes a bellhousing for a t45 that will fit a windsor engine like the 5.0..

here is a pic of my t45 so you can get an idea...

if you take out the bellhousing, what you'll see is this...

nobody makes a bell housing for the t-45. the t-45 wasnt all that good of a tranny anyway, the t-3650 was better. if you had the money a tko500 would be baller!

3550 or a TKO 5 or 600.
Don't waste your time trying to adapt a modular transmission.

3650 was introduced in mid '01, and is still used.
The transmission and bellhousing is all one unit, I highly doubt it will bolt to a windsor motor.

The T45 cannot work on the 5.0 because the bellhousing is part of the transmission and you guys that say its a POS don't know what you are talking about. My personal T45 in my 99 Cobra has gone multiple 10.9's in the 1/4th on slicks leaving off the rev limiter. Tim Matherly has gone 10.50s on his T45...Do alittle more research before saying something is POS....

as far as upgrading your trans. look into a TKO, or Astro performance also has some badass trans. options.
i got my whole TKO setup for a 94-95 for $1700 with less than 1K on it.

thats a pretty good deal, where did you get that?

i've looked into astro and they are a good option. what i REALLY want is a t56, and i'm just looking for a cheap fix for now until i can afford one
