Now that I've started tracking down the bits to convert my '94 GT to 5spd, I'm working on sourcing a T5 that will work, now I know not all T5's are created equal, and before anyone says "Just get a 94/95 T5" - I'm in New Zealand, so that's not the best option!

So, what numbers should I be looking for on T5's to determine whether they'll be the right size/shape for the conversion? I have a 94 GT bellhousing already sorted.

94/95 GT and Cobra t-5 trans is your best option. The t-5 for the 3.8 will work too but it's not as strong.GM put t-5's in Camaro's too but i don't know if they are compatible. You can use a fox t-5 but you have to use a fox bell housing and get a longer d/s or a d/s spacer.

Interesting, would you happen to know if there's any part numbers out there that I should be looking for?

Using a domestic t5 is an option, but I'm wanting it to be as bolt-up as possible, so if I can track down the right bits so I don't have to fluff around with crossmembers, etc -that will make me smile :)

So if I understand what I've read so far, if I bolt up a 94/95 GT bellhousing and install a 94/95gt input shaft in a fox-sourced t5 - it'll be the right length?
