So. Passenger side head is off. Not as much time as I wanted today plus I've got to drop the misses off to work so I'll handle the driver's side tomorrow hopefully

And I should have an idea of where I'm headed with the exhaust headers by the time I'm ready to go back up with everything.

Well while on the hunt for a block this is what I stumbled across. I've been trying to identify it plus I'm thinking about it and his price ($450) isn't too bad but we shall see. It says it is for an 01GT but I think it's a T5. Smh

110% not for a 4.6L Block!!!! The only factory manual transmission that has a removable bell housing (non-integrated) is the T56 which that is definitely not. The T45 and TR365 both have bell housings that incorporated the bearing races for the shafts into them. If they were removed like in this picture the gears, shafts, etc would nearly fall out.

That's what I told him so no luck with going manual.

I went to look at this Mark VIII engine today and it's a no too. I think I may just have to take a shot at dealing with what I have for now. Dead ends like crazy.

Whats wrong with the block you have unless the cyliders are scored. All I can see in the pics is light surface rust thats easily honed. The pistons area a little beat up.

All in all you are coming along with the build

Those pistons appear to be crown vic p71 pistons and the water nipple behind the water pump, if stock, is also early crown vic. Get the pistons out, check if they have wrist pin locks. All mustangs came full float piston wrist pins so pin locks will be present. If no pin locks, the piston are press pin and most likely a crownvic engine.

Well strangely this is the engine that came in this stang from the info I've been able to get. I was saying it looked like a Vic engine when I first got it from him too though. Apparently though this is the original stock engine. Looks like I do have a piston problem with number 8 in particular being scoured and looks like it hasn't moved in a long time I'm gonna be looking at it more tomorrow though seeing what I can do. This son of a gun doesn't have 100k on it but the previous owner was a duche. And here I thought I was only doing a head swap. I would love to clean it up. Set everything and then go back up but I want it to be nice and also reliable because in the future I want to do more. So far my goal is about 300-320hp

Looks like a rear brake issue

What do you mean? I'm going to try and finish what I started before it got dark so I can have a better look but this bad boy is in 4 pieces so I need to take stock of what the rest look like. At beast at least I know why that piston is sitting so low.

I was being dumb...lol...the pictures state the obvious.

Oh Lol! That has yet to be seen. I just pulled the pan and got this.
It's not often with a car that has no extras that I see a rod bent and shattered so I'm afraid of what I will find. I have to find a hoist to pull it though. My neighbor has one but the way the car is set in the driveway I'm not sure how that's gonna work.

I'm not out yet. Still making some moves behind the scenes here. No major things happening right now. Got some things to handle and them it's back to it. Pulling this engine out is number one on my list once I'm back at it. Good things to come though

Well. She’s sleeping here. A few setbacks with my other vehicle caused me to pause for a while but I’m not done yet. More work coming soon but first I need one of those garage tents. Still got quite a bit of work to do. I have parts throughout the house waiting. Soon enough though.

I really feel like I’d have been further. Those setbacks really did it. Still got to deal with the engine too. Then it’s basically body work and cosmetics.

So Update. I Found a Mark VIII Engine (which is going to be assembled by a Godsend of a person) lwarrior1016 with the PI Conversion, got headlights, snatched up a Victor Jr intake manifold (on the way), got back the other two pony rims from the guy I previously let “borrow†them for a few weeks (turned into two damn years almost), CMS Valves in route, found a solution to my radio harness issue, and radio trim bezel.

I still have to pull the dash and center console to fix the wiring, find side skirts, actually remove the tint, get some headers and mid-pipe, drop the engine and put the new one in when it’s ready, find a way to rejuvenate the interior of the doors, replace speakers (they were shot anyway), I want cams (and I’m pretty sure I’m going that route), will change the brake discs and probably the calipers and lines too, the shocks are pretty good but they’ve been on there for quite a bit of time, try to straighten out the radiator shroud the best I can, make brackets for these fog lights, straighten out the PS front fender amongst other dents and dings I have to rectify, fill in the holes for the spoiler, and once I’m satisfied get it painted.

I’m sure there’s some other things too but since I’m not looking at my list I can’t think of them at the moment. All and all things are on the up and up and I don’t plan on stopping until it’s done, maybe slow down a... what am I saying? Slow down, Mustang? More progress soon. This has definitely been a project with many hiccups but I can’t wait until it’s done.

Goodies! Parts coming in now making me feel like the finish line is close. The engine is coming along and the rest coming in. A few things here including paint

Trim bezels galore. Don’t know which of the two acquisitions I’m gonna use but if anyone needs one let me know.

Welp. Got some work done with the great help of lwarrior1016. Old block out, new engine in, new hiccup. All the metal in the oil pan and the oil level sensor is hella bent. Crud. Not done yet though. On the hunt I go.
