Current set up: 5.0 V8, 2.73s, rebuilt t5, short throw shifter, x-pipe with thrush mufflers and cutouts, cai, 80,000 mi on motor.

The Plan: Gt40 Intake, Gt40 Heads, 24 lb Injectors, Cam Package (not sure which one any suggestions would help), and if i have the money 3.55s or 3.73s.

Pics of the Intake coming soon and heads are going to be in the mail soon.

I'd go with the E-cam. My brother went with the F but it's pretty lopey at idle (sounds good though lol). I'd go with 4.10's if I were you. I recently got some for my 4v, they're not even close to being too steep. Sounds like a good plan though.

^well this is my DD and if i do change i would want just 3.55's or 3.73. nothing more.. i think it would be pretty funny to leave the gears though.. lol 300 rwhp with 2.73s???? FTW anyone?

I just hope i can get 300 ill be happy then!

Good luck, man. Im looking to do the same kind of build on m car this summer. Stock heads suck! Go with 3.73s. I use mine as a daily driver with 3.73s and i can imagine 4.10s being annoying shifting all the time and the pointless first gear. Keep this updated and take pictures!

i have the stock gears still in my car (they suck!), had a 306 in it with holley systemax kit then now have a 347 stroker going in. cann't wait to get new gears though! just have to get them put in.
anyway sounds like a good plan! I'd probably do gears before cam, but thats just me.

well i am putting the new heads and intake on so i might as well do the cam too... here are some pics of the intake

yes those are the felpro gaskets!!

FWIW, thats an Explorer intake, not a GT40

Alright fellas I have started on the build. Did about 6 hours of work takin off: upper intake, and a lot of sensors. Hopefully tomorrow I will have a buddy or two to help me get everything off and maybe start putting stuff on. I ended up getting a custom cam froma guy outta Texas. And will not be using the 24# injectors. Wish me luck!
