throwout bearings repair

I am getting the strange chirping sound from my car whenever my clutch is not pushed down, and i've established that it is the throwout bearings. does anyone have an idea what this will cost me to have repaired? i would like to get it done soon because it is really annoying.

Well if you have a lil knowhow you can do it yourself. It's a very cheap part but the labor is what's gonna kill you in a shop. You just have to remove the exhuast midpipe, driveshaft, transmission, and to make things simple you can remove the bellhousing too.

if you are going to change the TOB then just change the whole clutch and a replace the rear main seal while tranny is off.....any shop will say the same thing

Yeah, you're looking at about 300 in shop labor, so you may as well have it all done at once if at all possible.

to have my flywheel resurfaced, and buy the new clutch, T/O bearing, and my pilot bearing + FFRP racing catalog it cost $266+32 for the flywheel resurface. labor was free, cause i did it in my driveway.

If you have a jack, stand's, and basic hand tool's, you can do it in a day.

It's not so much where you order the part's from, as it is what part's do you need? To recomend anything, how do you use the car?

it's currently an everyday driver but i do take it to the track occasionally, but i would like to add more performance parts to it since it is not going to be my primary car for much longer

That's pretty much it, and a good clutch for your application. You'd want your flywheel re-surfaced, and maybe a new rear main seal while your in there.

me and my dad (well my dad) is pretty good at working on my car.. we installed my new clutch and i can tell you i will never do that again. maybe if my dad wasn't 6'7 and 270ish lbs it would have been easier but on my cobra, that tranny sucked to take out..

i hope you have some confidence and can control your temper good because ill be the first to tell you it isn't fun. at least for me it wasn't a fun job. we spent the whole weekend on our backs under the car.. i hated my car at the end of the weekend.

Must be different for the 4.6, the T5 is very easy to to take out. The transmission is only held in by 4 bolts, and once everything else is out you can just slide it off onto a jack or onto your stomach, its pretty damn light.

The T45 in the 4.6 car's is a one piece unit, no removeable bellhousing.

Yea thats why T45s blow so much ass. Tax time comes im looking in to 2 things as far as mods go, bullshit for the IRS or a TKO. You can actually reverse the bolts so you can take the trans loose from the bell housing first but thats alot of work and a 45 just aint worth that

after thinking about it alot, i think i'm just gonna have a shop do it. i'm worried i may screw it up. i just gotta get some estimates. i'd like to have this time and my 3.73's installed at the same time while it's at the shop.
