I’m looking to get new tires for my 96 GT I currently have in the rear 28535X 18 and in the front I have 27535X18. I want a bigger side wall and I’m not sure what size to go.

Obviously you don't have stock wheels - first thing is to figure out the front and rear wheel width, and the offset / backspacing. You can measure it if needed.

Then go here:

Plug in what you have now, and try different sizes. It will tell you how the new sizes will sit / fit.

I'm sure, but honestly a set of OEM wheels with new tires would probably be cheaper in the long run, and he would have the taller sidewall that he is after.

In the shop
1st number is tread width in metric, second number is a percentage of the 1st number and it represents the sidewall height. Just do the math.

I did a larger sidewall on my Mach1 so it would knock some of the rear gear down in an effort for more traction.
Note - My car makes 800rwhp.
I run a 18-10.5 AFS Mach 1 wheel on the back of my car.
I previously ran 305-35-18 tire size, but now I currently have a 295-40-18 on it.

Here's how that looks -
This is the original size I had in a 305-35-18 R888R tire.

This is the larger sidewall currently on it in 295-40-18 Nitto 555RII tire.

Looks good serious HP.
I’ ended up getting 245/45x18 for the front 275/40x18 for the rear

Nitto tends to run narrow too. Have a pic of that 295 from the rear? Does it look stretched at all?

How do you like the Nitto compared to the Toyo? I've got the 555G2 and am NOT impressed with them.

The Nittos ride quieter than the Toyos. The traction of the Toyos was much better, but the compound didn't last as long as athe Nittos. Both balance out about the same.

Anytime someone asks this question I throw out this web page. Its a great way to compare tire sizes. I use it often.

I have the firestone firehawk tires on mine. They are grippy. I've like them so far. I have 275 40 18s on mine. Lots of tire.
