tires and clutch

ok so i need new tires and im looking at sumimoto htrz2's for 100 ea. plus 45 for allignment which comes too 445
or hankook k110's for 104 ea plus 40 for allignment which comes to 461

as far as clutch im leaning toward the king cobra, now my question is does it come with a frpp tob?
total with install would be 372
your guy's input please

On the Clutch Install what are they quoting you for the labor portion of it??? Does it include any other services ???

do you just want tires to get you around? Those are pretty cheap. Also note that clutch is pretty heavy.

well i dont pay normal cost on tires, i get them through my shop so i pay way less than what the average joe pays. as far as the clutch i just want soemthing better than stock. damn throwout bearing keeps going out

blah blah blah i dont pay normal cost on tires!!!!! That's fine i can go online and get the tires i had that are Hankook Ventus for 80 shipped 255/45/17 Z rated.... If your TO bearing keeps going out you have a Pre existing condition then !!!! I am about to install a SVE mongoose clutch with a Fidanza Alum Flywheel and a FRPP driveshaft.

well ive had 2 TO bearings put in by two different transmission shops and the have both told me my clutch doesnt look bad but the most recent was 2 years ago so now that its going out again im just going to replace the whole thing.
as far as tires i wasnt trying to brag just replying to onyx's post. just want ppls opinions on the choice in tires and clutch. im leaning more toward the sumimotos. ive heard they are better than hankook...

Tires i would probably go with the Ziek 912 for 97 a tire. It is a all season tire so you will get a good medium. there have been people here that say the FRPP TO bearing is good and bad. Normally a clutch kit comes with a TO bearing

Its hard to say your getting an actual KC clutch these days. Most clutch's are made by Sachs anyway. Supposedly the KC clutch has Brass Rivets (unsure of that).

do you have a manual adjust clutch cable? is it too tight? if you still have the auto adjust cable maybe it's time for a manual one. is the input bearing retainer on the tranny getting galled up? also don't forget to do the pilot bearing and turn the flywheel and swap out the leaky rear main seal.

also that KC clutch setup is not a heavy clutch. to me, that clutch is a stock replacement item. as for the bearing being frpp, i seriously doubt ford specifically makes a beefed up TO bearing. it's probably just stock ford along with that clutch disc. the only thing good about the kit is the pressure plate, and that's because it takes less pedal to engage/disengage.

Sumi's are the worst tire I have ever purchased. I whole heatedly regret paying for them. The rear fish tails way to easy on wet roads for my liking. In about 5 or 6 weeks I will be ordering BFG KDW 2's or Nitto Invo tires to replace mine. Both (as per reviews) work great in dry/wet conditions, BFG's seem to have a slight advantage on wet roads [very marginal though]. Nitto's seem to win in the quit category.

might as well get the revise throw out bearing retainer ($40) and as for the clutch.... i called gene evans ford to get a price on the KC and its close to $300 now. i went with the ram HD, i should know how it is in a couple days

i've been running sumitomo since 2005 and i've never had an issue fishtailing in the wet weather and i've driven this car from south GA to Wichita Falls, TX and to WV on several occasions, not to mention FL and SC.

maybe it's time you updated your suspension or driving style.

Driving and suspension are fine, they are just crappy tires. "You get what you pay for" and I got exactly what I paid for.

As far as tires go I'm running Nitto Extreme Performance tires, very good bang for the buck tires. They handle very well in wet and even icy conditions and seem to hold up fairly well and aren't as noisey as similar priced tires. Good deal on the clutch but why not look into a stage 1 spec or basic centerforce?
