SRT could you please explain how 17" wheels make the car lower? Doesn't make sense to me when the tire you're riding on is still the same diameter on both rims.

18 inch wheel are 1 inch wider that 17s, thus the car will sit up 1 inch higher on 18 inch wheels opposed to 17 inch wheels.

Compare me and Reds cars, Look how little ground clearance i have under the car compared to his.

17 inch tires arnt the same diameter as 18 inch tires, that why 17 inch tires wont fit on 18 inch rims

actually, 18's would only sit 1/2" higher than 17's, becasue its 1/2" is of the larger wheel is in the wheel well and the other extra 1/2" in under the car (don't really know how to explain what i'm tryin to say....) but yours is only a 1/2" lower

i see what you are saying. the difference between the wheel hub and the ground on a 17" wheel is 1/2" shorter than
that of a 18" wheel. but SRT Handz still has a point. A buddy of mine used to have a SVT contour (lowered 2"), and with
his 18s on it, it fit really well, with minimal wheel gap. he put the stock 16s on for winter, and it was so low to the ground
he had to put the 18s on.

lol, that's funny!
yes the wheel sit's 1/2" higher than the 17's...
and you get a slightly lower profile tire and your all set.

Personally I don't mind being a half inch higher up, and still have the wheel wells full of tire.

you can only lower your car so much before it starts riding like a tank.

i love being LOW. Car handles tighter if you have mods and lowered plus you feel like your going faster because your lower to the ground

My 18s are almost exactly the same height as my stock 16s. Handz car is just lower, rim size doesn't have anything to do with it...

this is true. you tires must have the same circumference otherwise your speedometer will be off. rim sizes will not lower your car unless you put a different tire on which will screw up your speedo

all i see are the rounded roushes on the 94-98... matts car is the only one ive seen yet with the 03-04s. i found a few types of rims that have the same styling as the roushs without the price tag. havent really decided on a set yet.

Changing the size of the wheel does NOT change the height of the car IF you use the correct tire. Your car is lower than the one with 18s which is why it looks lower. When I said same diameter i meant same OVERALL diameter. I am not a tire noob. When you increase wheel diameter you decrease tire profile thus keeping the same overall diameter, which on our mustangs is roughly 26". In other words although his rim is larger he has less tire height to so the difference is the same.

So in short, larger wheels do not make your car sit higher.

Haha your car is only lower to the ground because of your suspension, not your wheel size.

Thats why you run 245/45s on stock 17s and 275/35s on 18x9s...different tire profiles to keep the same overall diameter. Doesn't make your car lower to have 17s.
