trying to get low AND be comfortable

Air ride technologies has air springs for our cars. These -supposedly- just take the place of the coil springs, and can be adjusted with any air compressor (or bicycle pump if you're really cheap!) as long as you get the right valves. The beauty of these air springs is that -as opposed to coil springs- the lower you go the smoother the ride!
I'm sure there's a point where you can't go any lower b/c the suspension is so soft that the suspension would bottom out, and I know that a huge part of how well the car would ride would depend on the shocks/struts/sway bars.
Why go this low? B/c I'm trying to go wingless AND skirtless and it's gotta be REALLY LOW to pull that off. As much respect as I have for Ryclef, the ride height on his car kills me! I know that his is high(er) because it's a race car, and his drag springs are for weight transfer ...blah blah blah...
Mine's a DD car and I wanna get it down! Like the black car below.
I've said in other posts that I'm not looking to have the fastest car. This car is my daily driver, it's faster than most commuters and I want it to look good and ride nice.

Anyone have any suggestions on what shocks/struts/sway bars to use since I'm looking for a/b a 2.5-3 inch drop?
I may team these with the racecraft drop spindles if I can't get a good comfort/clearance balance from the airbags.

Also, anyone have suggestions on how to get my exhaust up higher? Right now I've got the factory cat forward sytem and at stock height I don't have 3 inches of clearance under the cats. Will shorties and an offroad X-pipe get me much more clearance? Any other trix?

Don't Air Ride Tech offer their own shocks with the air bags? If they would, that would probably be the best choice for what you are doing.

On the exhaust, the off-road X will help with the ground clearance, but not much. If you are concerned with the clearance of the exhaust tips, just get dumps, and forget about tips all together.

no, not the tips (I've already got dumps), I have no clearance under the cats. I'm sure that going to an o/r H pipe will save me a/b an inch, but I still need to suck up the h-pipe closer to the body -would shorties do this?

Shorties would not help you at all with ground clearance, as they are designed to with with the rest of the stock exhaust. Off road X/H might give you some of that clearance though, but it's not going to be much. Exhaust of Mustangs is actually tucked pretty good, believe it or not.

Well, I guess I'll just have to bite the bullet and carry the car to an exhaust shop. It hangs down really low and I'm not gonna be able to get the car as low as I want with the exhaust hanging like it is now.

My car is lowered roughly 2" with a catless exhaust into an H-pipe then to flowmaster mufflers and dumped. I rub on almost every single speed hump, even hitting them at an angle.

yuck -that's not what I wanna hear. 2" drop is the least I want. I was talking to a mustang racer here locally and he said that our exhaust shop might be able to section the factory header to tuck the exhaust a bit. I haven't gotten under the car (hey I've only had it like 3wks and it's been a crazy month!) to see if there's even room, yet. I really don't wanna run cat-less (my fox was cat-less), but I do wanna get low!

Oh, yeah! And I love your car, dude. Looks really good -especially the primered hood. Wingless FTW!
