Trying to save another one

I picked up this 1995 GT in the Fall. It's super ugly, but the bones are good.
Shock towers are really clean, especially for a New England car. It was repainted because of shot paint supposedly.
I was told it had a cam, and 4.10 gears. It didnt run, but a new distributor fixed that. Then it ran super poor. I bought a refurbed PCM, when I went to install it I found a board plugged into the factory PCM with a USB cable and a button cell battery. I replaced the computer since I had it, and it ran better. I then swapped the BBK MAF for a stock replacement one, and it's running better again.
Plans are to make a fun driver and track toy. Engine mods are going to be pretty much nothing other than maintenance. It'll be fast and torquey enough for me as it is.
Suspension is waiting to be installed, Koni Oranges and SVE springs. Maybe more eventually.
Brakes will be stock rear, and Cobra up front.
It came on the teeny stock 16's. I found these 17x9 FFR's for a good deal so they will be sitting under the fenders for a while. I'm thinking of a square 275 set of Firehawk 500's for tires.
I previously owned a 1980 Mustang Ghia hatch as my first car, 89 4cyl Convertable, a 94 V6 with 3:73's (was my favorite Mustang), and a 2004 GT I bought new.
I'm not worried about ultimate track/autocross performance. I have a lot to learn before it's the tires or suspension limiting my track times. I ran track days and autocrosed with my wife 20 years ago in a fairly prepared Focus ZX3, so I know what I'm getting myself into.
Anyway, here's a pic of the old girl with the new wheels installed.

It sounds like you have experience with these cars and autocross. But, if you end up having any questions about autocross mods, I'm always happy to help.

It's definitely going to be lowered. Springs and shocks are already waiting in the garage.
Below is a pic of my then new 04 GT. It went to some kid in the military, and 6 months later it was totalled.

I've watched some of your videos, and I appreciate the support. Major goal for this car is to have fun. I'm not going for FTD anymore.
This was the GT at a local autocross, and the V6 I had. I miss the V6 more than the GT

If the pic you posted is any indicator, it looks like a solid platform to start from. The chip on the car sounds like you may have just lucked into a Moates QuaterHorse tuner. If they went through all the trouble to swap a cam and tune it, you're off to a pretty decent start, if you want future mods.
