you can get a chip burnt, either from a local tuner or you can order like a generic one. No guess work. Set your fuel pressure (39 PSI I think), set your timing to 10 deg BTDC, plug it in and roll.

OR......

you can piggyback your ECU and tune it yourself with like an Anderson Motorsports Programmable Management System (PMS). Suppose to be very user friendly, when you order one it'll be pretuned by Anderson and you can make adjustments as needed using a controller that looks just like a Gameboy.

OR......

there's a couple of them out there, i don't know if they're considered a piggyback, but let's use the TWEECer as an example. You plug a chip in and there's a cable that connects to your laptop and you make adjustments. NOT FOR A BEGINNER, but you can use it if you pick up on new things easily.

hope this helps and i'm sure some others will fill in more.

For best results get a tune. If you are a cheap ass just drive the car. To be honest with you I don't trust myself in tuning the car. By the time you buy the software spend time tuning the car yourself and taking the chance of mesing it up, you can pay a tuner and know it's done right. Make sure you go to someone that knows what they are doing.

I've had my car tuned by two separate shops and they did a decent job but there are things i'm still not happy with so i'm gonna start tuning it myself with a moates quarterhorse. So if your someone who is very particular about how your car runs, and the littlest things bother you like me you might want to give self tuning a shot. Check out eectuning.org and do a lot of reading before you make your decision. You know what they say if you want anything done right you have to do it yourself.

Not sure how steep the learning curve is on the Moates, easier or harder than a Tweecer?

+1

That's why i got a PMS, suppose to be very user friendly, my SCT is great for now but when i do heads and a bigger camshaft then i'll have to get the chip reburnt and then if it does something that needs minor adjusting (like part throttle driveability) then i can change it myself without driving 1 1/2 hours away to get it adjusted.
