I drive with the top down and windows up/heater on when I want the convertible experience but it's too damn cold to run full open.

I did that once... ...ONCE! ...when my vinyl top shrunk and couldn’t close shut. What I did was wrong. I broke the rules. What you are doing is wrong. There is a convertible code of conduct that we all agreed to when we took ownership. This is the type of behavior that leads to vehicle seizes. They come in the middle of the night. So if it’s not securely locked up in a private garage, better make sure you haven’t kept any valuables in the car when they come to repo it.
