This place is the most fascinating, most insane place I've even driven too. This town is called Doel and it's near Antwerp, Belgium. The government wants to demolish the town to expand the Antwerp port. It's been going on for over 30 years. Many people left because the town is deteriorating, but about 100 people persist and still live there.

To me, the experience was surreal - I've been to Bodie, CA last year (one of America's largest ghost towns) but that was old western stuff. This town in Belgium is just a contemporary town that is almost completely abandoned - that's crazy. Some of the houses looked brand-new (7th pic).

^that was interesting to read. the pics look like the place is vacant and like there were at 1 point a ang of skaters or something there, lol. i wonder what the citizens who stayed there look like. they just regular folks?
