what adjustable struts and front control arms would you recomend?

ordered my air ride system today and I need to find a nice adjustable strut to go with it. As little as I know about motors I know even less about suspension. What would you recomend as a good mid/high end adjustable struts that will last as well as a set of front control arms? I would love to be able to adjust the strut for race days as well as for just city driving. I am not going to be selling this car(EVER!) so I do not mind spending the cash as long as it performs and lasts. My worst nightmare would be to spend the money and end up with a ride I hate and would have to change.

i love konis but they can be very pricey. But you really cant go wrong with them. haha

well you can spend over a grand on Koni adjustables if you want to but I've had my Tokico Illuminas for years and they've served me well. As far as front control arms you looking for something tubular? I'd suggest MM since that's what I got.

Hell yea , tokico illuminas is what I have they r great love em.. if ur looking for a budget ARM . Lots of people do 03 cobra arms on these cars

yeah for sure. i've had a friend that had Tokico's and he liked them but i've never really had any personal experience with them besides the adjuster not working correctly on one that we installed. How is the ride for the price? I have a set of UPR pro A-arms and they are really light and really strong. Are those MM's chromoly?

cost is actually the #2 most important thing here as I will pay the price for good shtuff again as long as it performs and lasts. I will be keeping the car long enough that I hope to forget the price but enjoy it for years.

I have not really heard anything bad about either koni or tokiko. How hard are they to adjust?

Tokicos adjust with a small flat head screwdriver at the top of each strut, there's a little dial and numbers 1-5 on each one. I've always thought the ride was good especially with the H&R SuperSports.


98 I'm not sure if they're chromoly but I'd put the quality and durability up against anything else on the market.

I have koni adj's. Love'em. they're adjustable with an allen wrench. No fixed settings. Infinately adj. You can tell a differance. I set them to firm last year when I made a "dragon run" and I had to stop and soften them for the 3 hour ride home.
In normal operation they're soft like stock.

I was set to buy some KYB's then these popped up on c/l. I haven't seen another set on there since. I got all 4 lightly used for the price of 1 strut.

so lets put it this way - plain and simple. If cost was your 2nd most important factor behind getting a nicely adjustable ride that you will be happy with for a long time - who would you go with? I mean it seems like koni would be the way to go but are there others that are better? Any favorite places to get them or places with the best prices?


The more I think about it the more I like it. Adjustable ride height, adjustable ride, a good set of tires and it should be a HELL of an upgrade from the currently completely factory/stock 94 stuff huh?

the front ones are easy since they come up through the camber plate, in the rear you either have to remove the sides of the trunk carpet or what i did was cut a door to access them, kinda need a mirror to see what's what lol. it's definitely noticeable, i normally run them on 3 but if you step them up to 5 the car really feels firmer. and at the drag strip i put the front on 1.

Id go with the Konis. Not sure about the Tokicos but Konis are rebuildable. They also offer custom revalving and shortening. You just send them your info, i.e. vehicle make/model, weight, spring rate, etc. and tell them what you're after and they work their magic. Not cheap to have them reworked but definitely worth it in the long run.

As far as control arms a lot of guys are running the teamZ adjustable front control arms no issue. I don't know how your ride tech stuff works but you have to coilovers if you want to use their control arms .....aka no spring perches
