What are those weird little shocks...

What are those weird little shocks that connect to the rear sway bar and point sideways instead of up and down? On my 94GT, there are some kind of weird looking little miniature shocks back there. I guess they... what.. help with launch or something? What are they actually called, and can you get better ones than factory?

Quad shocks, and you can just toss them if you plan on getting aftermarket lower control arms

I'm assuming you are talking about the Quad-Shocks. They are used to prevent wheelhop. As far as I know there are no upgraded ones. What you can do is get upgraded Lower Control Arms. Most people claim they can remove the quadshocks after putting on the new LCA's. Maximum Motorsports makes good LCA's. Hope that helps.
